Advantages: It dissolves quickly

Disadvantages: The colour, scent & its contents

As most of you know I absolutely love Lush and that I also have a love hate relationship with their bath ballistics. Lush is always a hit or miss when it comes to bath ballistics. I have long had a gripe with bath ballistics purely because you end up trying what seems like hundreds before you actually find one you can get along with and because you can only use a ballistic once, unless your lucky and it easily breaks into half, leaving you with a two bath ballistic! My last gripe is if they don't dissolve properly and leave a salt trail at the bottom of the bath making it extremely uncomfortable.

Most of Lush's items require you to love a certain scent, and if you don't you will hate it. There never is an in between when it comes to their products. Alot of Lush's scents can start of really pleasant then end up becoming quite pungent which is a shame, its almost as if the scent goes off as soon as it is used and this is especially the same for ballistics, they smell very different dry in the store than when you use them in the bath.

I was in the US when I tried Sugar Rush. I hadn't seen it back in the UK so thought i'd found a wonderful new product which I could bring with me. Now as a knowledgeable Lushette, I know its best to buy only one of a product, then try it and then buy it again if you really like it! This only really works if you live next to a Lush store or whether you don't mind buying online. Sugar Rush Bath Bomb was one of the company's biggest bombs ever... literally. They discontinued several beloved ballistics to make room for Sugar Rush and one other (Haagenbath). I can't understand why they did, Sugar Rush is awful! The one thing that really attracted me to this ballistic was purely because it contained lavender which I adore, but to my disappointment the scent of lavender cannot be detected however hard you tried to smell it!

Sugar Rush is one of the smaller bath ballistics yet still gets a price around $6.00! Initially when I walked into the store there was quite a big marketing campaign on this ballistic. Yet when you think of the name you may expect something pink, but oh no you get something which is neon yellow and could probably light a whole room for hours upon end. It looks radioactive yet as it has rainbow drops in it, this gives it quite a speckled effect. Rainbow drops is supposed to give the whole cereal/ morning type thing! But they just end floating around your bath soggy which is not that appealing!! I'm sorry but bathing in food is not what I want!!!

Sugar Rush is meant to have a cola scent, which again is something I have wondered why! Why make a neon yellow ballistic with a cola scent? But anyway the scent is hardly cold more of a cinnamon type scent which whilst it is quite subtle and perfectly tolerable you can't help feel annoyed at Lush for throwing such a useless product together. A positive side is that Sugar Rush dissolves quickly and completely, leaving my salt mess in the tub, but I'm afraid readers thats where the positive point ends. The fact that this ballistic turns your bath a horrid urine yellow is just yet another negative point, due to the colour you will need to make sure you rinse your bath out thoroughly after you've let the water out as you may just be left with a yellow ring round the bath tub.

Bath ballistics are not meant to be moisturising (unless they say they will) and Sugar Rush is just meant to be a wake up call for the morning. However due to the awful sales Lush discontinued this ballistics after a poor 6 months, I dont think they should of ever made this in the first place!! I am glad to say that I didn't buy another one and I am even more glad because it turned out a few people were upset at Lush for using Limonene as an ingredient in this ballistic. After researching the term, I found that it is actually a n ingredient used in cleaning solvents. I did a bit of research on this ingredient on wiki, and on other various sites where I learned that this ingredient could cause skin irritation, respiratory irritation, and eye irritation. It could also be harmful if swallowed. Great, in my mind I had just tried a toxic bomb!

What Lush say:-

"Wakey-wakey! Stimulating spices and reviving fruits for a bathtime booster
Can't wake up in the morning? The answer? Not two double espressos, a Mars Bar and three cans of Red Bull for breakfast, but a Lush Sugar Rush Ballistic! It's bright yellow like the morning sun, studded with sugary Rainbow Drops that dissolve in the bath water and scented with stimulating, spicy cassia and cinnamon leaf and reviving orange oil (with a bit of balancing lavender thrown in because we don't want to give you Attention Deficit Disorder, just to wake you up a bit). Simon made this slap-in-the-face to a certain 'secret' recipe that's widely available on the web. See if you can work out which particular sugar rush this smells like. Be warned, this is for mornings (or night shifts) but definitely not for when you're planning a peaceful night's sleep. For everyone who spends the morning unable to finish a word, let along a complete sentence, join the queue for the Sugar Rush"

On the whole if you haven't tried it then you have had a lucky escape! I think you can still get this ballistic from Lush but in other countries such as India where I am sure you won't be ordering from due to the high postage costs! Please be rest assured that you haven't missed anything by not trying it!

Summary: Fortunately no longer available!

very informative review, I'll avoid this one and keep an eye out for limonene!

Lush still use limonene in LOADS of their products.
