Advantages: Lovely scented, fizzy bath with great ingredients

Disadvantages: No wow factor

Lush's Twinkle ballistic is part of their Christmas range - I'm still ploughing through my Lush Christmas haul, so apologies that this is a bit unseasonal! I received this as part of a gift box, and as it is not currently for sale I'm afraid I don't have an up to date price for it, but I would guess that it is not one of the more expensive ballistics, as it is a smaller sized one - the same size as a Butterball bath bomb, if you are familiar with the range!

For me, there are two reasons that I am compelled to buy from Lush. The first is their incredible, unbeatable, record on sustainable, environmentally friendly, ethically sourced, animal testing-free and packed full of fabulous natural ingredients products. The second is their tendency towards the dramatic and over the top, (let's be honest - 'show off') sort of product. This is the 'Ooohhh!' factor for me, and this, as well as the amazing ingredients, helps me justify the not inconsiderable expense.

Some things don't have to have both - 'Big' hair shampoo for example, comes in a black pot and looks like sludge, it feels like sludge, but it is the most amazing shampoo, my hair completely loves it and smells fantastic, so it is worth every penny. Ballistics, however, I believe should have pzazz! They should be a real luxury product, a treat. I'll always defend Lush's pricing on the grounds of the quality of their ingredients, but their products really do have to go the extra mile for someone as impoverished as me to consider purchasing them! I know that some people don't like the 'bits', but for me, they are what makes a bath unmistakably a Lush experience, and without that, you may as well shop elsewhere.

So, Twinkle, as you may have already guessed, didn't quite make the grade for me. It is a lovely pale aqua blue colour, admittedly, and it has a teeny sheen of sparkle to it if you look very closely, but you lose this in the bath water - boo. It smells lovely - like cream soda with a hint of soft fruit, yummy. It also has a softening effect on the skin, but no residue of sparkle. I didn't find that the whole house was perfumed though, as is sometimes the case after a Lush bath.

Perhaps I expect too much, but £2 - £3 is a lot to pay for one bath, and I want fireworks, damnit! Perhaps, more likely, I'm in a minority for wanting glitter and presents to float out of every ballistic, but I have to report that in future I will overlook this one in favour of a more dramatic bath.

Summary: Too subdued for my tastes!

I'm finding some of the ballistics are a bit disappointed and over-hyped and am going over to bubble bars instead!

I prefer more dramatic baths too. Can't understand paying £2-£3 for a nice smell and soft water - I love the bits! I want the bits! The bits make it fun!
