Advantages: Can get 2 or 3 uses from 1 Emotibomb and makes you feel refreshed and relaxed
Disadvantages: I don't get any bedtime eading done if I use one of these as it makes me too relaxed and sleepy !
One of the latest creations from the handmade natural cosmetics company Lush is the Emotibomb, there are 4 different Emotibombs and I have tried them all!
Emotibombs are intended for use in the shower. Place an Emotibomb in the bottom of the shower and turn on the water, as the warm water hits the Emotibomb it will slowly dissolve and emit a gorgeous fragrance which will not only fill the bathroom but the whole house, as you shower you will inhale the beautiful scent that each Emotibomb gives out.
This review is about the Emotibomb called Up The Wooden Hills. Each of the 4 Emotibombs has a different purpose, fragrance and shape, this one is meant to help you sleep, smells of Lavender and Chamomile and is a sort of oval shape with what seems to be a person on it.
As its name suggests, Up The Wooden Hills is the Emotibomb for bedtime and has a very calming and soothing aroma. This Emotibomb has soothing Chamomile and Lavender oils to make you feel calm and relaxed before you go to bed.
I really do not like Lavender, so the only reason I decided to give this a chance was that it was given to me, I definitely would not have gone out and bought it as I find that Lavender gives me a headache. When I got this I gave it a sniff and thought I could smell some Lavender in there so was not sure if I should use it or not, but it smelt quite mild so I gave it a go.
Emotibombs are pretty much like a bath bomb, they are the same consistency they come in a shape which is pretty crumbly, although you are not meant to crumble it, you just put the whole think in the bottom of the shower. As the water splashes onto the Emotibomb the fragrance is released and a soft lavender vapour swirls around you.
I really enjoyed using this and it definitely does what it intends to do, I used this after an exciting day out, when I got in I was full of energy and just knew getting to sleep would be difficult, I planned to read a book in the hope that it would help me nod off (though I usually end up finishing it and being up all night!) then I remembered that I had this in the cupboard so decided to give it a go.
When I got out of the shower I felt refreshed but also sleepy, my skin also felt great and my hair carried the fragrance from the Emotibomb. I jumped into bed and began reading my book but I couldn't keep my eyes open, I just felt so calm and relaxed that I had to turn off my lamp and go to sleep.
This is quite a simplistic shower product, using very few ingredients; the ingredients as given on the Lush website are -
Sodium Bicarbonate
Citric Acid
Perfume
Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia)
Lavender Absolute (Lavandula augustifolia)
Chamomile Blue Oil (Matricaria chamomilla)
Neroli Oil (Citrus amara)
Geraniol
Limonene
Linalool
An Emotibomb costs £1.95 so is not the cheapest of items, however I think you could get a good 3 showers worth out of 1 Emotibomb as when I used mine I found that it dissolved quite slowly and after I got out of the shower there was plenty left, which my partner then used in his bath - he also slept like a baby that night, but then he always does!
I did like this and despite my hatred of all things Lavender, I think I would buy this again, the product is very good and it made my shower feel a bit less boring, the bathroom still smelt lovely the next day too! I have since bought the other 3 Emotibombs though I have not tried them yet, if they are good as Up The Wooden Hills, I will definitely be happy.
Summary: An unexpectedly lovely product.
