Advantages: Smells nice

Disadvantages: Doesn't do anything other than smell nice

** Product **

Earlier this year, Lush brought out a new range of Emotibombs. The purpose of these, I believe, was to create a Bath Ballistic for in the shower. The aim being to create a gorgeous smell in your bathroom when showering, you know, the one you usually get when you take a Lush bath.

Lush created four Emotibombs - Sex in the Shower, Too Drunk, Up the Wooden Hill and Up You Get. I have tried two of the four and this review will be based on the Up You Get emotibomb in particular. Each of the Emotibombs has a different use depending on the scent and Up You Get is, as the name would suggest, an emotibomb designed to help wake you up in the morning.

** What Lush Say About This Product **

Lob one of these in your shower if you are a serial non-starter in the mornings. When you retire or win the lottery, you can look forward to having a nice lie in every day but in the meantime if you are one of those people who has to force themselves out of bed every morning then turn up to work looking bright and cheerful, then Up You Gets is the answer to your prayers. (Except that it can't actually give you the winning lottery numbers.) What it can do is send its tiny little fragrance molecules clambering up your nostrils to smack you in the scent detectors with lime, lemon and grapefruit. There is an anything that works better than this. (Nothing legal anyway.)

** Price and Availability **

One of these Emotibombs will set you back £1.91

All four varieties are available all year round and can be purchased either in a Lush store or online at www.lush.com

** My Opinion **

I am a huge fan of Lush, so I was very intrigued by these and couldn't wait to try them out at home.

This "Up You Get" emotibomb was particularly appealing to me. I have a young daughter who has only recently began to sleep through the night, so I was excited that this could possibly make it slightly easier for me to get the older kids to school on time.

It claims that the citrus scent will waken even the sleepiest of people in the morning and the smell certainly is zingy. You can smell the lemon and the lime. It actually really reminds me of sherbet.

I have to admit at £1.91 (I actually paid slightly more than that since I bought it before the big tax cut), I was a bit reluctant to put the whole thing in one shower, but I wanted to do this properly, so as not to question it's effectiveness afterwards.

So, up I get one cold frosty morning. It was still dark outside and I felt like a zombie after having one child up in the night with growing pains and my daughter waking me up at 5am.

Once the shower had heated up a bit, I grabbed the emotibomb out of the yellow paper bag. It is quite big, so I'm sure it would do two showers, but like I said I thought I'd use the whole one the first time. To be honest, I wasn't really sure where to put it, I decided right where the water hits the bath would be the right spot. Unfortunately, this also happens to be where I stand, so I kept stepping on it and mushing it up a bit.

I have to admit the smell was very nice, very fresh and clean smelling, but I'm not convinced it woke me up any more than a normal shower would. I had also expected that, due to the emotibomb having such a strong fragrance and because I had used the whole thing in one go, the smell would linger around the bathroom for a while after my shower. However, after 5 minutes there wasn't a trace of that nice zingy scent at all.

Overall, I really don't see the point in this product. It doesn't serve much purpose for me at all. Yes, the smell is nice, but it doesn't last, it doesn't wake you up anymore than a normal shower would and unlike a bath ballistic it doesn't come into contact with your skin at all (except if you trod on it), so doesn't benefit you in that way at all. At £1.91 I'd say this is a complete waste of money, it's not even worth it for the lovely smell you get while having the shower.

Summary: Would not recommend, it's a total waste of money in my opinion

Hmm. I've had my doubts about how good these would be, and this confirms it!

That does sound like a stupid idea, really. Shower gel pretty much does all that and much more?
