Advantages: Lovely little gift
Disadvantages: Not available in the UK
I have just returned from a wonderful long weekend away in Venice with Mr Sweetpea. A long awaited trip that has taken ages to come round! Even though I travel most months sometimes a destination appeals to you more than most and Venice I should hope is on everyone's most wanted list! Fortunately in Venice there are two Lush stores, one is near Santa Lucia train station and the other is by the Rialto shopping district. Both are a decent size and contain all the usual wonderful items including some Italian specials. Fortunately I managed to pack light to keep some space just in case I saw any items which we did not get back in the UK!
I decided to buy gifts rather than individual items and one of them was Vanilla Bod. I was quite unsure about this purely because it had vanilla in the title and vanilla I must admit is not my favourite scent purely because it can be far too sweet. But to my wonderful surprise this gift contains two items which have no real connection with vanilla at all! Vanilla Bod comes in your usual shaped box wrapped in luxorious thick vanilla bod patterned yellow and gold wrapping paper (far too good to tear off!) and is wrapped with either a black or gold bow to finish. And of course each gift box is done in pristine, military type precision so it is perfectly perfect!!!
Vanilla Bod contains: Butterball Bath Ballistic and Floating Island Bath Melt.
Butterball:-
This is Lush's most intensive skin conditioning treatment in bath form: as it froths and dissolves, it releases small chunks of pure cocoa butter that melt in the water's warmth, deeply moisturising your entire body while ylang ylang tones the skin. Those with dry skin, unruly patches of psoriasis or eczema, and new mothers or mothers-to-be who are trying to prevent stretch marks (cocoa butter is excellent for this; it doesn't altogether protect you from them, but it increases the skin's elasticity, aiding in the minimisation of tears) will want to heavily stock up on this sensually musky, delicately sweet, quasi vanilla scented, ultra-calming Bath Ballistic for frequent use.
Even those with oily skin will benefit from a weekly or monthly Butterball bath to give the skin an extreme blast of nourishment andtone. At the end of the day, this bath is essentially a £120 full body, full-service spa treatment for all skin types, at the far more reasonable price of around .
Floating Island:-
Cocoa butter & almond oil give this cupcake-shaped melt a rich, butter-based vanilla cake frosting scent as it slowly bobs around in the bath, enveloping you in a creamy, milky froth. But just when you thought you could pinpoint Lush's fragrancing within the labeled confines of a dessert laden world, sandalwood & lemon oil rise up to challenge your senses, at times lending a tropical island top note and at others a deep forest one.
Floating Island's aromatic aura has quite a subtle nature, but its endurance gives one the feeling that this is intentional and should be regarded as part of Floating Island's charm. However, if scented subtlety isn't your "thing", this bath melt can lend its intensive skin-creaming benefits to bath cocktails with any of the following:- Bon Bomb, Butterball & Plum Duff bath bombs; Creamy Candy, Ceridwen's Cauldron, Melting Marshmallow Moment & You've Been Mangoed bath melts; Happy Birthday & It's A Date bubble bars; small bits of Each Peach & Two's a Pear, Soft Coeur, or Therapy massage bars used as bath melts also work a treat. Just depends which notes you want to bring to the forefront, whether sweet, citrus, or woodsy.
Floating Island is undoubtedly one of Lush's most versatile baths. Simultaneously sedative & tonifying, it makes an equally lovely pick-me-up bath whether at the end of a hectic day or at the start of a lazy do-as-you-like day.
What Lush say:-
"Become a bathing beauty when you use these two comforting and classic vanilla gems. Our Butterball bath bomb and Floating Island bath melt moisturise and soften your skin to leave it smelling sweet. Bath time is heavenly when you feel as though you're floating on a cloud"
Vanilla Bod cost me Euro12.90 in Venice which yes it is quite expensive for a whole two items and I'm guessing you pay more for the packaging than anything else but the fact that these are two wonderful items makes the extra seem so much worth it! And the novelty for me is that it's not available in the UK!
Summary: Bodilicous!
