Advantages: The water in the bath felt nice
Disadvantages: No smell to speak of
When I was in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago I just had to pop into Lush - well we don't have any branches here in North Wales so I have to visit one whenever I get the chance! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Anyway I treated my self to the You've Been Mangoed Bath Melt which I have yet to use and the Waving Not Drowning Bath Ballistic. I put the items into individual yellow bags in the shop and the assistant kindly added label stickers to remind me what I had bought.
Yesterday I did a fair bit of exercise including sawing and chopping wood for our log burner so I decided that an afternoon soak in the bath was in order.
I chose the Waving Not Drowning Bath Ballistic and read the label to remind me what exactly I was letting myself in for. It said 'Relax into a lavender haze and have a good night's sleep. Drop into a pre run bath'
I dutifully ran the bath and I took the ballistic out of the yellow Lush bag. It was a little bit bigger than a golf ball with a rough textured surface and it was pale lilac in colour. I sniffed it expecting a strong fragrance of lavender but could only just make out the smell.
I dropped the ballistic into the bath full of hot water and it fizzed and dissolved quickly and completely but still not much of a smell at all. The water wasn't really coloured as the ballistic was so light in colour.
I adjusted the temperature of the water and climbed in. The water felt lovely; it was really smooth and silky. I lay back in the bath and relaxed inhaling deeply trying to find some sort of fragrance. I did smell and faint whiff of lavender but certainly nothing like I would have expected from Lush. There was not the 'lavender haze' as the label had led me to expect!
I have just taken a look in the Lush Times to find that this ballistic contains lavender, fennel and ylang, ylang essential oils - really? You could have fooled me!
Anyway I enjoyed my warm, relaxing bath and, as I said earlier, the water did feel lovely and silky which in turn meant that my skin felt moisturised after I had finished my ablutions.
One of the main things that I love about most Lush products is the fact that the whole bathroom is filled with the fragrance of the product whilst it is being used and that fragrance lasts in the air for ages afterwards.
Sadly with Waving Not Drowning that just didn't happen. There was very little fragrance as I used it and certainly nothing lingering on the air afterwards.
The ballistic cost me £2.20 and obviously is all used in one bath so I am sad to say that on this occasion I am very disappointed with Lush so I won't be buying this one again.
The real laugh is that it says on the yellow bag 'Re-use it's had Lush things in it so it's going to smell gorgeous. Keep it in your sock drawer and make your toes smell nice.' Not a chance! The ballistic didn't even smell so the bag certainly doesn't.
I wrote to Lush via the e mail address on their website telling them of my disappointment and they asked me to send my home address in order that they could send me another Waving Not Drowning. I did so and have now received a parcel containing the bath ballistic, a piece of Honey I Washed the Kids soap, a bottle of Vanilla Dee Lite Body Lotion and a bottle of The Olive Branch shower gel! Now that's what I call customer service!
Summary: I won't be trying this one again

- 22/04/09 Wow, well worth complaining about then, I wonder if it was just a rogue batch, maybe the replacement will be better. |

- 20/04/09 I've not bought this one as I don't like lavender. I'm pleased Lush sent you some nice things after it disappointed you. |
