I'm not very well today, nobody gives me any sympathy they all just think I'm skiving. I tell you there's no real fun in staying at home in your dressing gown all day, pampering yourself and eating peanut butter on toast.

Most mornings I use a good zingy shower gel to wake me up to the cold hard reality that its morning and I have to go to work. Today because of my groggy head and stuffed up nose it's the last thing I need, I want something soothing and relaxing.

Ordinarily this would mean a nice long bath, but I cant have a bath because ours I one of those old cast iron buggers that has gone a bit rusty and the council don't seem to care enough to come and replace it. So whatever relaxing I need to do I have to do it in a shower.

Enter stage left: Lush Whitewash shower soap.

250g of it in a practically plain white tub it looks and feels for all the world like polyfiller. It just begs you to sink your fingers into the pot and scoop out a huge glob of it, unfortunately I feel more like filling that crack by the windowsill rather than rubbing it over myself.

However, when you get over this feeling you should be ok. The best way to use it is to push one of those plastic puff scrubs into the pot and twist it around like you would a tub of Brasso. You get a nice coverage over the bod' it has a nice creamy texture when on but doesn't lather up as such, I need to go back to the pot once of twice for full coverage.

The smell is incredible, not flowery or fruity feminine, musky or spicy masculine but a lovely subtle woody scent of sandalwood with undertones of lemon which you can definitely tell is there but is not strong enough to make the soap zesty in any way.

I love this smell so much that when I first started using it I would wash three or four times a shower just so I could breath in the scent, I tried just sniffing the tub but its just not the same. Saying that a tub lasts me a
fair while, generally just over a month depending on how often I use it.

The smell does indeed linger, often after my shower I'll go in and snuggle up to my other half 'hmm, you smell nice' he says, my towel offers me no protection and if I'm not careful 3 minutes later in need another shower, damn it. (Not really 3 minutes but I don't want to scare any off my male readers or make any of the women jealous! LOL! I delude myself!)

It does leave you feeling nice and soft, clean and relaxed. Its certainly left me a lots less groggy today even if I couldn't smell it so well because of my poor stuffy nose.

The ingredients are reassuringly ordinary and understandable with one only ending in 'oxide':
Aloe Vera Gel (Aloe barbadensis), Water (Aqua), Kaolin, Vegetable Soapflakes, Glycerine, Titanium Dioxide, Sandalwood Oil (Santalum album), Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum), Perfume

The tub costs £5.50 for 250ml and is worth every penny. Lush doesn't test it's products on animals and this particular one is marked as suitable for Vegan's.
