Advantages: Pretty, soft, sweet scent
Disadvantages: If you prefer a zesty shower gel this isn't for you
Mmmmmmm.....is the best way to begin when reviewing this pretty pink sweet shower gel. Between me and my partner we've tried nearly all of Lush's shower gels, with usually more than one on the go at any given time, but I always find myself returning to this strawberry based product

The Product and the Lush Brand
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lush tends to have a bit of a 'hippy' store reputation due to their ethical outlook. They endorse fair trade and organic ingredients, using fresh fruit and vegetables alongside the most indulgent essential oils, they also only buy ingredients from companies that never test on animals, plus many of their products are suitable for vegans (though this one isn't). But ethics aside they are also renowned for creating indulgent products that as welll as having great benifits for the skin are fun to use and this pink girly shower gel is no exception to that rule.
The 'Yummy Yummy Yummy' shower gel contains: fresh strawberries, contributing to its sweet scent, honey, with all its soothing qualities, almond oil and olibanum oil, and Passionflower seed oil, which is very moisturising for the skin and is said to help ease anxiety. If you are very concerned about the ingredients used in the gel I would recommend checking out the Lush website, where each ingredient is explained in detail.
This shower gel (like their others) comes in three different sizes:
100g - £2.91, perfect for an experimental try or those unwilling to spend a fortune on shower gel (like me)
250g - £5.86
500g - £9.80
This may to many seem highly expensive for a shower gel, especially when considering great effective products can be bought for half the price, but the difference with Lush is the majority of your money goes towards the ingredients rather than the packaging. On the Lush website they state that they 'found out that the cost of a standard shower gel is 20% ingredients and 80% packaging. With Lush, it's the other way around; plain packaging containing beautiful ingredients.' Whilst, in my opinon, this is most definatly the right way round but it does mean that you must put up with a relitivly plain clear plastic bottle, but with a pretty pink liquid inside it still looks gorgeously tempting on your bathroom shelf.
Appearance and Use
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The product is a gorgeous pretty pale pink, making it an ideal for a present to a girly girl. I expected the product to be thicker than it is given its luxious list of ingredients but in stead it is relativly watery. As a result the product does need to be used more liberally than their other gels and I would recommend using a shower puff (though this is a good tip with an shower gel as they help exfloiate the skin) to make it lather up more. The shower gel has a very sweet subtle scent; it is the only Lush shower gel I've bought that boyfriend doesn't help himself to, but then all the more for me! It is very similar in scent to their 'Stawberry Fields Forever' massage bar (£4.95). This is probably a love it or hate it product, for me I just love it's sweet smell and (being a self-confessed girly girl) is pretty pink colour, but if like many you prefer a more zingy zesting refreshing shower gel then this product is definatly not one for you.

The Results

I have found that when used liberally it is very nourishing for the skin, particulallly goood for any dry pathes. A much more moisturisng effect than those that 'wake-up' and liven the skin, making it more suitable to night time use than a morning shower to wake you up.

My top tip

To maximise its sweet scent I would recommend conbining the product with a product from their vanilla range rather than using the strawberry massage bar with the same scent. For example: Heavenilli massage bar (£4.95), the Vanilla Dee-Lite body moituriser (£10.50) or the Vanilla Puff Dusting Powder (£6.50)
After all strawberry and vanilla is a classic combination! To quote my boyfriend this makes me smell 'yummy enough to eat' - so it definatly lives up to its name!
Summary: A personal favourite

- 02/09/09 My daughter introduced me to Lush, previously I would walk past the highly scented store. However, I am now a convert and use there products regularly. I particularly like the massage bars, make your skin feel lovely. |
