Advantages: Nice smelling long lasting scent
Disadvantages: Can be a bit overpowering when first applied
Lynx Africa
I first stumbled across this fragrance in and around 1997/1998 when I was finishing school. It has a very refreshing smell and the body spray is long lasting and very palatable to the opposite sex. It almost smells a bit fruity and as such is perhaps not the most masculine deodorant on the market. Around the time I was leaving school was also when I started going to pubs and clubs and getting hangovers. I found that I couldn't stomach the smell of this deodorant on the morning of a hangover and stopped using this product and lynx in general. That all changed following a Christmas present earlier this year.
Lynx/Axe
Lynx is owned by the British/Dutch firm called Unilever. They originally started selling deodorants to smelly French men and once they realised it was so popular rolled it out to the rest of Europe and now the world. Someone had already registered the name Axe so in the UK, New Zealand, Australia and Ireland the brand became known as Lynx.
Where to buy
Lynx is widely marketed and sold in the UK. It can be found in almost every chemist and medium sized supermarket. Even in parts of rural Ireland I have noticed if a small shop only sells one type of deodorant it will tend to be Lynx. Generally I will buy mine in the supermarket and currently a 150 ml can will set you back around £2.28. If you shop around there are often promotions on this product. I believe the current promotion to be 3 for £5.
Smell
As mentioned before the Africa smell is almost fruity. The lynx can/bottle is very well designed. There is a screw down section almost like opening a jar which screws down to unveil a dispersement nozzle. The bottle should be held about 12 inches away and sprayed over the desired areas. The spray displaces very well from this can and a short blast will give ample covering and protection. I would tend to make this the last thing I do prior to leaving the bathroom as the smell can be over powering. I vaguely remember it triggering an asthma attack or heart attack on a young lad earlier this year and for that reason I try and always leave the room after spraying or use in a well ventilated area. Africa wouldn't tend to my favourite scent but my girlfriend likes it a lot and it the pleasurable wafts it produces for the wearer throughout the day adds to ones self confidence.
All in all a very good product but there are nicer scents in the range but that's only my opinion.
Summary: Not my favourite but still nice
