I purchased 100ml of Macleans Whitening Toothpaste from Sainsbury's for £2.35 on a buy one get one free. You can buy this is a couple of different sizes but I went for the 100ml as it was the best value for money on the shelf at the time of purchase and I love to get my monies worth.

The product is in a standard toothpaste tube with a screw cap at the end and is supplied inside a cardboard box (easily recycled).

The toothpaste is advertised as providing "2x better whitening than an ordinary toothpaste" and it has "Enamel Protection."

The toothpaste itself is a fairly thick paste which is white in appearance, very plain looking. It does not foam up too much but gives an ample amount to clean my teeth thoroughly. The minty fresh taste helped to freshen my breath and once I had finished using this I did feel like I got a good all round mouth clean.

One tube lasted me around 4-5 weeks with my other half occasionally using it and I did find that my breath was very fresh and clean smelling, also, my teeth felt a lot cleaner when I ran my tongue over them and they looked a little brighter and whiter too. I have recently given up smoking and I no longer drink wine so this could be contributing to the improved whiteness.

I would advise using a mouthwash after using this product (as I always do anyway) as this helps to keep your teeth and gums in tip top condition.

My Top Money Saving Toothpaste Tip: When you think you're at the end and have squeezed as much as possible cut the tube open and you'll no doubt find a few more days worth of toothpaste!

I would recommend this as it gave me nice breath and was fairly pleasant to use. This toothpaste did not make me gag and I do believe my teeth looked better for it. I am going to rate this 5/5 as, for me at least, it worked very well.
