Advantages: EASY TO APPLY, NON GREASY, GOOD PROTECTION
Disadvantages: DANGEROUS TOPS TO THE BOTTLES
With the arrival of Summer (?) OK well maybe not summer - but the better weather, it is essential, to all, to arm ourselves with a good sun protection aid. I have a great problem with James, my 2 year old son at the moment, he will not tolerate any cream, lotion, gel or anything remotely good for him near his skin. As he likes playing outdoors I have searched every chemist for a suitable sun protection for him, other than a body suit! I have found the answer to my prays in the form of 'Malibu dry oil spray'. I actually though this was something to use when using a wok but there we go! The spray comes in a no frills clear bottle, with a pump action spray in a rather fetching orange colour. There is a clear top, this is a bit dangerous if you have young children or cats and dogs that think these things fun to chew, as it is quite small. Also a danger to bare feet and bums as it is clear and difficult to see! The spray is very easy to use, remove the dangerous clear top and spray the oil on the desired target. Thats it - you have some sun protection. James thought this was great fun as I made very silly noises when applying it all over his body, he even asked for some in his hair! The spray is waterproof, non greasy - despite being called 'oil spray', and can be applied to the scalp through the hair, amazingly it didnt make the hair greasy either! The spray comes in a variety of sun protection factors and is suitable for children. The spray is pleasantly scented - well if you like smelling like an overgrown coconut, and is very easy to apply on the body and arms and legs. It is more difficult to apply to the face however, especially children, as you have to spray it onto the hands then rub onto the face. It is excellant for hard to reach places like the ears, as the spray gets them in one squirt! The spray muct be reapplied every 30 minutes whilst in the sun, or after swimming to ensure con
tinued sun protection, no problem there, James kept asking me for more! The spray is very easily absorbed into the skin, a few seconds after spraying the oil disappears only leaving behind its fragrance. Does it work? Well after a day in the garden, on this beautiful sunny day there is not a hint of redness or soreness amongst us. My other half who is milk bottle white and usually turns red at the merest mention of the sun has caught the sun, but is not burnt in the slightest! As he has rather sensitive skin, we have to be a little careful about some suncreams as they tend to make him itchy or blotchy - there is none of this either. Instead he has very smooth skin with a healthy colour. Malibu dry oil spray cost £4.49 from my local chemist and is very cheaply priced in my opinion, especailly as it has done an excellant job of keeping us safer in the sun. Sun cream for children is not the only protection that should be observed during the summer months, floppy brimmed hats, or hats that protect the neck should be worn, loose clothing also should be worn, as well as a good high sun protection factor cream/lotion or spray.

steviesin - 09/06/01 Couldn't agree more. Used this in Turkey last year and got the best tan ever without burning or peeling. Best to use higher factors first tho |
