It was the Christmas before last that I received a gift set of some Marks and Spencer Florentyna Body Lotions and potions and in the set was the body lotion. I was quite pleased to receive this though less pleased once I started to use the products inside the box. I will explain about the body lotion.
It was in a nice shaped bottle and it looked ever so pretty on my dressing table. Te lotion itself was not as runny as I had been expecting, it was fairly thick and it felt nice when I put it on my skin. Quite cooling and very hydrating and moisturising. I can mention all of these positives about this body lotion, but it does not detract at all from the fact that the fragrance was so very off putting that it kind of deleted all the positives that this body lotion actually had.
It was very very strong in smell, very much reminded me of the sort of perfume or talcum powder that my mother’s mother would have used in her day. It smelled of lilac and lavender and very sweet overpowering smell of lilies. It was really just so much and I had to use this very sparingly as the smell made me gag it was so bad. I eventually threw away what was left of the set as I really could not bear to use it.
Nice body lotion if you wear a peg on your nose or you have no sense of smell.
I am always impressed by the gift sets that are on sale in Marks and Spencer. I only notice these sets at Christmas time. But I would advise anyone to have a look at them as they make fantastic gifts, particularly for someone who is difficult to buy for. The cost of these gift sets are very reasonable and look far more expensive than they actually cost.
Last year I bought two florentyna gift sets. I hadn't had the pleasure of sampling this product before. However the packaging was so appealing, coming enclosed in a beautiful cream make up bag. I decided to buy one as a gift and buy one for myself.
I was hopeful that the scent of this body lotion would be to my liking. However I was slightly disappointed. I do like the scent it is very floral and sophisticated. However I would say that this scent lends itself to the older lady. I find it a little old fashioned and heavy for my tastes.
The consistency of the body lotion was perfect. The initial thickness of the lotion, created a creamy texture onto the skin. Although this sounds a bit off putting, it was actually very soothing and the scent of the body lotion provided a fresh and cooling sensation. The lotion does absorb well. It does not leave a sticky residue. The scent does hang on the skin well. I could smell the scent in the evening when I had applied the lotion in the morning.
I also noted that following the application of the lotion, my skin appeared softer and more moisturised. I should imagine that a bottle of this lotion would last you a good few months. This is because you only need a small amount of body lotion as it does indeed go a long way.
Back to the scent of the lotion now. This is the only thing, that I felt left the product down. But in all fairness I can see how the scent would be appreciated by others. It just did nothing for me and made me smell old fashioned.
The initial whiff you get when applying this cream is the strong floral topnotes of lilly of the valley. I quite like the freshness of this scent. However after a short period this scent becomes quite overpowering and cloying. When the initial floral scent dies down slightly, I can then indicate the scent of orange blossom. This is much more subtle though and adds a more demure tendancy to the scent. There is also musky undertones to this scent which I have to admit I do like very much. I love musk and find that it gives a scent a air of sensuality. However on this occasion the strong floral lilly of the valley and jasmine scent overpowers all other ingredients.
As far as value for money goes, I would certainly say that this body lotion is well worth the money. The product itself is very sufficient and pleasing. It just wasn't to my tastes. I would certainly say that this scent is more for the mature lady. But I suppose it depends on one's preferences. What I will say is that it is a deliciously indulgent lotion that left my skin feeling rejuvinated.
I paid £10 for the gift set at Christmas which included body wash, hand cream, bubble bath and body lotion. These were only small bottles but they had good portions of product within. I know that my nan loved this gift. She asked me a couple of months ago to pick her up another body lotion. I believe i paid around £5 for a medium sized bottle. The bottle was very pretty and well packaged. This is a bonus as it will provide a great focal point on any dressing table.
