Advantages: Lots of bubbles and kind to sensitive skin

Disadvantages: None whatsoever!

I just love this bubble bath. I remember using it when I was little, bathing my boys in it, and it's now a favourite of little miss.
I can't help thinking that generations of people can't be wrong; if I remember it being around when I was young, it's been around a LONG time, and in fact, when I had a little scout around the website (as you do), I found out that it has in fact been around since 1958; that's a long time to be still going strong and as popular as ever.

So...why do we love it?

There are the obvious features for we parents and carers, and there are just as many reasons for our little treasures (!) to love it

------------------------ FOR THE GROWN UPS-------------------
I look for these kind of things, not because little one is allergic to anything I know of, but rather because I don't want her to have to suddenly suffer an unnecessary allergic reaction.
Matey fits the bill in that it is specially developed for kids over the age of 1 year old and is...
* mild and gentle
* dermatologically tested and approved
* kind to even sensitive skin
* has added moisturisers from seaweed extracts
* ph balanced
All great stuff. i know she probably won't come out in a horrible itchy rash which will send mum rushing medical advise!

------------------------ FOR THE LITTLE ONES ------------------
Now this is the good bit.When I shop with my daughter and she needs (or even if she doesn't) bubble bath, she heads straight for the pink section. There are lots of pink bubble baths, usually in the shape of Barbie princesses and the like and we have to choose carefully. She is, however, steered easily to the Matey because it's pink. Yes, joy of joys, we have a golden haired mermaid Matey, sitting surrounded by shells, with shell hair clips and a pink screw on top; what little girl could resist. (Not, I hope an offensive comment, it's just that in my experience, girls have gone for this one).

----------------------THE PRODUCT--------------------------
As I mentioned before, this particular Matey bottle is a plastic bottle which is shaped so that it can be carried easily. It is 500ml and is good for up to 30 baths.
It has a picture of a "mummy it's a beautiful mermaid-can I have it?" on the front which continues all around the bottle. Whichever way it is placed, it looks pink, and because of all that gorgeous pink, the Matey logo is all but invisible to the small child's eye, as are the instructions.
The screw on cap is large and hat shaped (do mermaids wear hats?) and, most importantly, pink.
The bubble bath itself is pink and smells "nice-like flowers". The directions state that you have to pour 2-4 inner capfuls into a stream of water; we usually just guess but whatever amount we put in, we must be doing something right because bath time really is a bubble bath.

--------------------WARNING--------------------
All good things have to come with a warning, but this is pretty minor, and not a great deal to get flustered about:
* if the product is splashed in the eyes rinse thoroughly with cold water
* keep the product away from children until empty. I would actually always do this, otherwise it would all be poured into the bathy in one go. However, once empty, it's great fun playing with Mer-Matey in the bath, especially if you keep all the bottles and you have a whole sea faring/sea living crew.
* Small parts not suitable for children under 36 months when the empty container is used as a toy. I honestly haven't found any parts small enough to be swallowed but it is a warning on the bottle

-----------------------OTHER PRODUCTS------------------
We buy them all at different times and keep the bottles for the afore mentioned crew. Apart from Mer-Matey, there are:
Sailor (Captain of HMS Matey)
Lucky (the pirate parrot
Doc-topus (the colour changing octopus)
Dolphin Shampoo (no tangle shampoo)
Squirty Starfish funwash (body wash for bath and shower)
Diver handwash (antibacterial)
As it says on the website..."GO BUBBLEISTIC"

--------------------------INGREDIENTS------------- --------
I don't know what alot of these are, but someone suggested (rightly) that I mentioned the ingredients for people who are looking out for specific ingredients to avoid. Here they are:
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-5 Cocamide, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, Sodium Lactate, Hypnea Musciformis, Gellidiela Acerosa, Sargassum Filipendula, Chndrus Crispus, Parfum, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Benzoic Acid, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Denatonium Benzoate.

---------------------WEBSITE---------------------- --
www.matey.co.uk
Very child friendly website with interactive games to play, and for parents and carers, product information

----------------------PRODUCED BY------------------
Sarah Lee (thought they made cakes)

A must, and one which most people may have tried or at least seen. Satisfies the visual needs of those discerning little people and the "am I doing the right thing" needs of the adult. Good value product and one you may enjoy using yourself; you too could be part of the Matey crew.

Happy New Year to everyone! x

Summary: A great bubble bath

Ah, the nostalgia - I used this, too! You really could leave the dull ingredients stuff out, by the way - it's not important or particularly encouraged. And would save you some tortuous typing ;)

The bottle designs are pure genius on the kids bottles, can remember having them when I was little - used to think it was a toy! Welcome to my trust and alerts, onto read your first 2 reviews now. Sam
