Advantages: Gentle on the skin, Long lasting bubbles, Has child appeal

Disadvantages: Not suitable for children under 1 year

Bathtime! It is a word which will strike fear and dread into the hearts of parents across the Country, how easily the innocent word trips from your tongue, how heavy your heart as it falls to your boots!

Now, I know that not every child hates having baths, some kids love it, my youngest falls into this group (hooray), my other two do not!

After research conducted by me, via chats at Mothers and Toddlers and pre-school pick-up I have come to the conclusion that my youngest child is in the minority.

What's the solution?
How about this, rather than filling your bath so full of toys you are unable to fit the children in, try some bathtime fun with the cleaning thrown in too.

The makers of Matey bubble bath discovered this, sometime ago, way back in 1958 to be precise.
Its a simple idea, children love bubbles, but hate baths so try a compromise and they may at least like bathtime. Throw in some endearing packaging and it becomes an enjoyable experience.

I can remember Matey bubble Bath from my childhood, in those days he was little more than a smiley faced bottle with a sailors hat, he promised loads of big bubbles and kept his word. The Matey jingle would ring in our ears.

"Your Matey's a bottle of fun,
you puts me in the bath,
I'm loved by everyone,
I'm always good for a laugh."

I grew up, and Matey did too!
He now has a whole family of bath products and has a smart bottle, curved to reflect his features and character. He has gone from slightly serious smart sailor, to jolly lad in a sailor's suit.
One thing remains true, the lid of the bottle is still a sailor's hat.

He now urges you to "Go Bubbleistic!" and is true to his word, producing mountains of huge bubbles in the bath. After waiting for my youngest to reach a year old (not suitable for under ones) we are happily using our Matey at bathtime and fun has replaced dread.

This is a bubble bath developed especially for kids, it is designed to be gentle even to sensitive skin.
Two of my children have had mild skin problems, but both have been fine with Matey. This bubble bath is pH balanced and now has added moisturisers from seaweed extract. It makes a refreshing and safe alternative to Baby bath products, producing more bubbles and a more exciting smell.

As I said earlier Sailor Matey is no longer alone,
he has 3 companions in addition to, a shampoo, a funwash and a handwash to keep him company.

Each of the four Matey bubble bath characters has its own colour and scent, the bottles are considered collectable and make fun bath toys. They also make great skittles when used with a foam ball or beach ball. It should be noted that they are not suitable (as toys) for children under 36 months.

Characters:

Sailor Matey;
based on the original in his white sailor hat. His pale blue bubble bath is mildly scented and very fresh, would probably be called "aqua" in an adult range.

Lucky Matey;
This friendly looking parrot has a yellow hat, his lime green bubble bath smells of fruit, particularly apples.

Mer-Matey;
Pretty in pink, a mermaid in a shocking pink hat, her pink bubble bath has a floral note.

Doc-topus;
A sweet looking octopus wearing a blue hat, he has magical colour changing bubble bath (this impressed me more than the kids!), it has a sweet, fruity smell.

For the complete Matey experience, try the dolphin, gentle shampoo. This mild shampoo is designed to reduce tangles.

Diver handwash is another new product,
it is anti-bacterial and has a pump to dispense it.
The most interesting addition in my mind is the "Squirty" Starfish funwash, this is a soap free bodywash, and it's beautifully designed starfish bottle is made to float in the bath!

The bubble bath itself come
s in a 500ml bottle, this is designed to provide up to 30 baths if the correct instructions are followed. You add 2-4 inner capfuls into the stream of water. This is all that is required for a cascade of rich, sparkling and long lasting bubbles.

I have seen Matey for sale this week at Asda for £1.68, I think it is usually priced nearer £2,
however I have often seen it in buy one get one free promotions, so it is worth shopping around.

Whatever price you pay, it is worth it for stress-free bathing.

Finally, if you want to indulge yourself go ahead, in fact "Go Bubbleistic" too!
