Advantages: Smell, bottle, fun, bubbles and changes the water colour

Disadvantages: none

I bought Matey "Doctopus" bubble bath after I had previously been reminiscing about the 1980s and Matey bubble bath featured highly on the "cool products I used to love" list.

Matey "Doctopus" is a 500ml shaped bottle wth a blue Matey collectible lid and retails for around £2 in many high street shops such as Boots or Superdrug.

One bottle is recommended to provide 30 baths, though I found it lasted about 8 baths and used quite a lot of the bubble bath as it is not only blue coloured but this Matey edition actually changes the colour of your bath water making it blue. Therefore I went a little overboard with the bubbles resulting in a bath that was more bubbles than water (but a great deal of fun).

Matey smells fantastic- Matey Doctopus has a berry-like fruity smell. It is kind to sensitive skin, pH balanced, it has added moisturisers from seaweed extracts (a nice nautical touch). It is suitable for children from the age of 1 upwards (most of us can remember having a bath with Matey bubbles, making santa beards with the bubbles- it has become a part of childhood..).

The product is made by Sara-Lee (the cake manufacturer). The bottle has a warning if splashed into the eyes to rinse well, and it does say "specially developed for kids" so this would lead me to believe it will not do any harm if children do attempt to eat a few of the bubbles (as we have all done...). It smells nicer than it tastes is normally the rapidly learned moral of the story.

I found Matey Doctopus the best of the range as it has the added benefit of not only smelling great, creating a great bubbly bath, having a collectible bottle that can be used as a toy (for children aged 3 years and up due to the lid being classed as a small part) but it also changes the colour of the water. Children and adults will love this and I will certianly be buying a few choice friends some of this as their novelty present next Christmas!

Summary: A great new bottle from Matey- with an added surprise
