Advantages: lathers well, lasts a long time, none irritating

Disadvantages: not very moisturising

Aparently if you have a puff handy you get more uses with this product but i'll come on to that later!

We've had three doodah saga's so far and for fear of becomeing another 'Rocky' and outlivingthe legend I thought it best to start a new episode (for now!)

This is the story of the puff, not puff the magic dragon but just your ordinary everyday puff.

OK, if you haven't got a puff then go and get one now, you will not get the full benefits of this body wash without one. My puff is pink with a little string on it so I can hang it up. It's a bit wirybut suprsingly it doesn't hurt and it gives you a really good scrub. Remember, you're going to be using this puff at least 60 times so make sure it's got the staying power it needs. It's going
to be scrubbing really hard and working up a lather so examine your puff carefully and choose with care.

~~~~~ THE BODY WASH ~~~~~
Enough on puffs, what about the body wash? I have chosen a body wash this time instead of a shower gel to see if it would be any more moisturising. The previous gels I have tried left my skin rather dry, they had good cleansing properties but that was about it.
The Almond & Orange body wash comes in a rather curvy clear plastic bottle. It has a flip up lid for ease of application. Unscrewing lids in the shower can be a slippery business. You can't hang it up though as there is no hook, you'll just have to leave it on display to show off your expensive taste. Original Source are the largest words on the bottle so you cannot fail to miss it, Almond & Orange is then written underneath and this stands out due to the way they have highlighted the background as you would with a highlighter pen. Directly underneath are the words MOISTURISING BODY WASH, they are in capitals and it was for this reason that persuaded me to make my purchase. I liked the idea of a being able to have a shower and still
receive moisturising benefits as opposed to having a bath and soaking in essential oils. The colour of the body wash itself was quite creamy. It was like these paints that you can buy,'with a hint of' it reminded me of a kind of white with a hint of Orange, almost bordering Magnolia. It is nowhere near the strong colour of the Original Source Orange shower gels, it is much more subtle and creamy than that.
It claims to be able to give you all day moisturisation for the softest, silkiest skin you have ever had. Most of my body doesn't suffer with dry skin apart from the odd outbreak of eczema. My legs, particularly the bottom half do seem to be rather flaky. I think this is made worse by the fact that I wear trousers nearly all the time. So far no shower gels have eradicated this problem so this was going to be the challenge for the Almond & orange body wash. I also love the smell of almonds and I couldn't resist having a sniff in the supermarket. The Orange hits you immediately and the Almond seems to be like an after thought. You can just about detect it and it seems a rather strange mixture. I can only assume they chose the Orange for cleansing benefits and the Almond for moisturising benefits.
~~~~~ THE PUFF TEST ~~~~~

I don't know if you've ever done the puff test but if you apply a small amount of body wash to a sponge and a small amount of body wash to a puff and do one leg with each, you'll get better results with the puff. The sponge will lather up and you will get some bubbles but the puff just seems to make the experience more pleasurable. You get more lather and it's also good for exfoliating the skin.

Assuming you have a puff handy (if not a sponge will do) squirt about the amount of a five pence piece directly on to the puff. It is better to have wet your body first under the shower prior to doing this. Start to scrub with the puff and you will see lots of lather building
up all over your skin and all over the puff itself. Gradually work over the whole body area except the face. The reason I say this is that it tell you to avoid the eyes, this would be rather difficult with a puff almost the size of your face! It also warns you to test on a small area of skin prior to use to see if you are sensitive to the product. I never bother with this but I very rarely use anything like this near my face, it's better to cleanse the face separately. This small amount created tons of lather and I didn't need to reapply any to the puff, if anything just wet your body under the shower again and you'll be fine. The aroma was pleasant and again I think the Orange was slightly more prominent than the Almond. You got the occasional waft of Almond as you were scrubbing but it was only subtle, I would have like more of this. I wouldn't say the smell was as revitalising as some of their other products but I was pleased so far with the amount of lather and cleansing.

~~~~~ SENSITIVITY TEST ~~~~~
I covered the whole body area (avoiding the face) and was pleased with the cleansing of the skin, it did not sting or irritate in any way and this was a positive sign. It actually produced so much lather I decided to shave my legs without applying any special shave gel and use the existing lather. The reason I chose to do this was because some gels irritate the skin as the shaving is aggravating the skin and no doubt you are more susceptible to substances irritating after shaving than simply washing with them. This has happened to me in the past and I prefer to use specific foam to stop this from happening.
The shave itself went quite well and it was creamy enough to prevent any nicks or cuts from happening. I didn't have to reapply any body wash, as there was plenty on the puff if I needed to lather up a little more. I completely washed off all the foam and my legs looked nice and smooth and they didn't appear to
be red or blotchy.
I decided it was time to get out of the shower to dry off and inspect the results.
As I started to rub down with the towel I noticed skin rubbing off my legs. As soon as I was dry the flaky skin was still apparent and I could feel my legs starting to itch. I was therefore not very impressed with the moisturising properties at all. With using a puff the outer layer of dead skin should have been removed and I would have expected a couple of hours without seeing the dry skin return. This was not the case. My legs continued to itch the rest of the evening although not to the point where I continually had to scratch them. I later applied some moisturising lotion to cool the skin and soften them a little, which helped. It would depend how sensitive your skin is as to if you would have the same reaction as me. Some people may be fine by using the wash to shave as well as shower; you know your own skin so I would go with what you think is best. It certainly didn't cause any adverse reactions and no other part of the body was irritated by using it (even the doodah)
~~~~~ OVERALL IMMPRESSIONS ~~~~~

I bought the 300ml bottle from Tesco a few weeks ago and it hardly seems to have gone down. It says on the bottle '60 uses with a puff' and I therefore anticipate that I will get many uses from this, maybe even more than 60. The cost was £2.99 but they were on offer with buy one and get one free. They will average this price although some retailers may charge up to £3.50 for it.

Even though it didn't moisturise as well as I would have liked I think that it lathered up well and it will prove to be excellent value for money. Used as intended it should not cause any irritation at all.
