Montagne Jeunesse Apricot Scrub
Advantages: quality, price, scent, leaves my skin glowing
Disadvantages: messy, doesn't moisturise well
I am a fan of the Montagne Jeunesse range of beauty products. Late last year, one of my lovely reviewing friends treated me to a gift pack of various face masks and other Montagne Jeunesse product. Included in this pack was a single use sachet of the Apricot Scrub.
Suitable for : all skin types
Montagne Jeunesse face products are not tested on animals. This product is an apricot scrub which also doubles up as a face mask. It is marketed as being 'deep exfoliating and ultra cleansing'. This scrub is suitable for vegans and is also gluten and dairy free. It contains a range of natural ingredients and there is no parabens present in the ingredients list.
This face scrub is designed to offer a radiant and glowing complexion. It contains crushed apricot kernels which help remove dead skin cells, softening and soothing aloe vera and sweet mango. Other ingredients include green tea and evening primrose. The promise is that tired skin will be revitalised with this face scrub.
This is one of four face scrubs that Montagne Jeunesse offer. The majority of their product range is face masks.
This face scrub is presented in an easy to store and simple to use sachet. The sachet contains 12g of product which is sufficient for one, adult application. The sachet is foil lined for freshness. The outside of the sachet is very bright and colourful. The illustration on the front shows a happy lady with a thick, creamy face mask on and fruit over her eyes. The important product information and usage instructions are listed on the back of the sachet.
~Price and Availability~
This face scrub is widely available on the highstreet in stores such as Boots and Asda. It is also available online from www.montagnejeunesse.com priced at £1.09. The company website currently has a '4 for 3' offer and free postage when you spend £10.00 - ideal for stocking up on your favourite pampering treats!
Whilst I mainly buy and use the face masks in the range, I am always willing to try the other beauty products that they offer. I normally avoid scrubs for my face as I am always scared that they may irritate my sensitive skin. I don't really like the beetroot red look for a face so I am very wary of what I use on my face. I took a chance though as it seemed a waste to have this sachet sitting in my beauty box untouched.
Since starting a new diet around 7 months ago, my facial skin has become dryer than normal and is prone to breakouts which really annoys me. A regular face mask/treatment on top of my regular skincare routine is a must at the moment. I find these sachets to represent good value for money and they are ideal for a girly night in. They are also ideal for taking on holiday if you fancy relaxing one evening.
~Scrubba Dub Dub~
The sachet is fairly easy to tear open. Inside this sachet was a good amount of face scrub. The scrub itself is a thick cream which was almost of a soft, clay consistency. The cream was a pale white colour with lots of small, crushed apricot kernels visible. I gave my skin a quick wipe over with some tepid water in preparation for applying this product. It is recommended that you massage this scrub across your face (obviously avoiding your nostrils, eyes and mouth) and relax for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing. It is essentially a 2 in 1 (scrub and mask) product.
I found applying this product to be very simple despite the thick consistency of the cream. There was enough product to coat my skin in a fairly thick layer of cream and still a small amount left in the sachet. The cream spreads quite well and feels quite cool against my skin. I was able to detect quite a lot of scrubby kernels through the cream. I could definitely tell that this wasn't a regular face mask as I could feel the kernels exfoliating my skin as I massaged the cream across my skin. They did feel like they were doing a good job at scrubbing my skin without being overly harsh or uncomfortable.
This product has a pleasant smell which is evident when the sachet is first opening. On applying, I found that the smell reminded me of marzipan. I'm not very keen on the smell of marzipan so was glad that the scent quickly changed. The fruity, sweet aroma of delicious, fresh mangoes was evident. It is a lovely, girly scent and it makes using this product very appealing.
Once I was satisfied that the crushed kernels had performed their intended job, I left the cream to settle on my skin. During this time, I found my skin feel comfortable and I was quite relaxed. The cream dries like a regular face mask and I find this to be a pain free but rather tickly experience! After 10 minutes or so, the mask was almost completely dry and starting to crack. I do not like the process of removing any face product and this was no exception. It isn't overly messy to remove but it does cling to my skin like clay and takes a bit of scrubbing to fully remove it from my skin. I found using a flannel soaked in hot water was ideal for removing all traces of this product.
Once I had removed the mask, I gave my skin a rinse over and patted it dry. My skin did look a little on the red side at first but this quickly subsided and I was able to witness a healthy glow to my complexion. I have dry skin and this product didn't encourage any further dry patches. I found that the main benefit of this product was that my skin appeared a lot fresher and calmer looking. The kernel particles had performed well at exfoliating and buffing away the dead skin cells and my skin did feel smooth and soft to the touch. I found it to work a treat around my nose especially. I wouldn't say that this product offered a massive amount of moisturisation but I was happy to apply a thin layer of day cream after using it anyway.
I would happily use this face scrub again. It is packed full of skin kind ingredients, smells gorgeous and gives me skin a good exfoliation. I found that my dull skin was replaced with a much less tired and dewy look and this is exactly what it needed. I will be buying more of this product to use on a weekly basis as I feel it is gentle enough to use weekly as a skin pick me up.
Thanks for reading :)
