Advantages: Smells lovely, works really well, it is only £1
Disadvantages: None
If like me you spend a lot of time on your feet walking to places, walking round places, standing up and addressing people you probably get home and have really tired and throbbing feet which ache so much that they and you want nothing more than to have someone lovingly caress and massage them? However, anyone who knows me personally will know that I detest feet in all forms, including my own. I am not quite sure where my irrational hatred of feet came from but I cannot bare other people to touch them, massage them, go near them or look at my feet and nor can I bear to touch other people's feet in anyway shape or form without feeling quite ill, so summer time is not always the best season for me with all of these feet being on display.
Anyway, I might not like my feet but I do realise that I have to take good care of them to stop them becoming even uglier and in a state where I have to think about someone else touching them physically to sort them out. So I do take good care of my feet like I do the rest of my body and I do like to ensure that they are kept in relatively good condition because walking around on them all day whether they are stuck in my knee height boots or just in a pair of flip flops it all takes it toll.
A good friend of mine who I have mentioned before in a similar review is a trained chiropodist, one of the most sadist occupations known to man in my eyes, always tells her clients to use a really good foot scrub and foot cream and treat your feet like you would treat your hands. So with that in mind I became quite fond of a few products by Sally Hansen called Just Feet Spa Sugar Scrub which was really nice to use and more recently when I was doing our monthly shop in Tesco or heel as I have renamed it, I came across a Montagne Jeunesse watermelon and balm mint foot scrub on offer for £1 and quickly deposited it in my trolley.
Montagne Jeunesse is probably best known for the facial masks which are sold is a lot of high streets stores such as Boots, Superdrug, Claire's Accessories and many supermarkets. Each one of the products made by Montagne Jeunesse is made with natural ingredients which are derived from plant and minerals and some of which are also dairy free and vegetarian certified. Montagne Jeunesse also states that they do not test any of their products on animals.
The foot scrub is sold in one of the familiar looking sachets in which Montagne Jeunesse package their products in and this packer is shaped like two feet and clearly displayed on the front of are images of watermelons and mint along with the words "Deodorising foot scrub". This product
has been specifically designed for feet; the skin on your feet is much softer in parts than the skin on your hands, so Montagne Jeunesse have bore this in mind for this foot scrub. As a scrub it naturally uses exfoliating beads, which in his case is small grains of a walnut shells which have been finely ground down and they help remove any dead skin cells which are found upon the soles of your feet, around the toes and on your heels, the usual places in which hard skin appears.
One of the best tips I was given to pamper my feet, which thankfully doesn't involve a lot of touching them, was to buy a foot spa which naturally I did and this scrub works well when combined with the foot spa. Once your feet have been in the foot spa and are quite wet, opening this sachet you need to use only a small amount of this scrub. Then to use, all you simply do is massage, in circular motions, into your feet. I always start from the heels of my feet and massage the scrub right round to the tip of my toes and the tops of my feet. When it comes to the skin on the top of your feet, it is slightly more sensitive than that on the bottom of your feet so please remember not to press too harshly because you could end up scratching the skins surface as you massage which will leave it feeling quite sore and tender. As you are massaging this scrub in circular motion you should notice the dead skin cells being removed because although the scrub is quite fine in texture and the exfoliating walnut shell quite fine, you do notice the dead skin removal. If you do find harder skin areas then it is advised that you add a little more pressure to aid the removal of any dead skin cells and once you are satisfied simply rinse any excess scrub off your feet, which I do continuing to use the circular motions of massaging and then pat your skin dry. Once you have done this, you should then moisturise your feet to help soothe your skin and keep it soft and supple.
Within this foot scrub is a lot of ingredients which have been used to make your feet look and feel lovely. Firstly there is Peppermint Oil which is a cooling and refreshing essential oil which cools the skin and reduces irritation and itching and is particularly useful if you have dry and hard skin on your feet. Secondly there is Spearmint Oil which again helps to relieve itching on the skin which can occur when your skin is in need of exfoliating and it is also good for helping to decongest the skin which leads to spots and other skin conditions. Next there is the Watermelon extract which is used to help clear the skin of any blemishes and the pulp of the watermelon is often used in beauty products to keep the skin glowing and finally the walnut shell which is used as the exfoliating agent to aid the removal of dead and dry skin cells.
After using this foot scrub on my feet for the last month twice a week, my feet are once again in really condition with soft smooth skin both on the bottom on my feet and on the top are soft an smooth to the touch, not that I feel the need to touch them very often I might add. The only downside is that there is only enough scrub within the package to last for a maximum of 3 applications, so you do need to buy it quite regularly but on the upside it is only £1 a sachet.
Although I hate feet, I would much rather use a foot scrub myself than have someone else do it and I like this scrub, it is easy to use, it requires minimal effort and it smells absolutely divine with the spearmint and watermelon both being quite dominant smells which lingers on your skin for quite some time. As you are exfoliating your feet it is also working on your hands and also leaves them feeling soft and smooth to the touch. Having paid £1 for this product it is really good value for money considering the amount of use it gets.
So if you are looking for something to pamper your feet with that is inexpensive, works well and smell divine then I would highly recommend this as a product.
