Advantages: It can help with ingrowing hairs

Disadvantages: But at a cost- your pain threshold!

I use this on my legs after waxing- its a product which is meant to help with ingrowing hairs, basicly to stop them. It set me back £7.99 in Boots about a year ago (in 2007)

I wax- or shave, and I clean, then spray on the solution, simple as.

I do get more then my fair share of ingrowing hairs, especially on my bikini line and this is the only product I have seen in Boots that actually states or infers that it stops ingrowing hairs. On closer inspection, it actually reads that it 'minimises' ingrown hairs, razor rash & razor bumps, waxing and electrolysis irritations. That all sold me, besides the electrolysis, they all apply to me!

The ingredients are Isopropyl Alcohol, Aqua (water), Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice, Glycerin Sailcyic Acid, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Glycoloc Acid and Allatonin. Though its not all natural, the Aloe and Witch Hazel gave me hopes that this was a semi natural product.

Well, I sprayed on the fluid straight after my shave, and at the time I had just waxed my eyebrows with Nad's facial wand (also have done a review on this) and decided to apply the spray here- although on your face, your supposed to spray it onto cotton wool and then onto your face.

Spraying it onto my legs, I was very surprised, the facial wax/gel is called 'natural facial wand', I figured the same company would make something kind of similar.
Well no. Not in this case.

My first thought at the 'scent' was how much like 1980's hairspray it smelt, sort of a nice reminiscence, but not the type you want all over your legs when you have just used melon scented saving gel.
It sprays on like water, and dries up very quickly, its not sticky and seemed to settle on my skin well.
The spray also stung- and ALOT! I am usually OK to roll with the punches, no pain no gain, right? Yeah, but there is a limit. And this was too far.

I didn't even attempt my newly waxed eyebrows, I could see me turning puffy eyed for the next 24 hours. Not what I wanted!

I did apply the spray to both legs, I wanted to see if it really worked and I also didn't want odd legs, if one was going to sting, then hell, so was the other!

Ingrowing hairs? I have to say, there was a reduction, but razor rash/bumps? Not really. It made my legs red and seemed to enhance the bumps.
The redness in all fairness, went shortly after the stinging, after 30 minutes, it was all over, the razor bumps were reduced, still there though, but its hard to tell if they were reduced compared to before or reduced to when the spray was on.

I did at a later date, for some stupid reason, apply it to my underarms after shaving- never ever ever again! I thought my under-arms were going to fall off. They stung ALOT! More then when I ran my epliator over them! And they didn't have any effect on redness, surprisingly.

I do think this helps ingrowing hairs, but I think I will stick with exfoliating every day and maybe save this spray to dab on the offending hairs, its too harsh to use all over, I tested it with unshaven hairs just to see, and it still hurt then too, maybe I just have sensitive skin, but I have to say, I am not allergic to anything, and rarely do I get an effect like this- and never to this point of pain!

Verdict: use, but sparingly, but wont be buying again, the bottle I have is 5/6 full and I think I have enough for the entire rest of my life there.

Summary: Not really worth it.
