Advantages: Yet to find one.
Disadvantages: Expensive, messy, fiddly, awkward, time-comsuming...etc
When I saw this on TV I thought 'aha, no more gluey cold wax strips!'
DON'T BELIEVE THE ADVERT!
I read the review on here in the hopes that it wasn't too good to be true, it looks like it wasn't (but I was yet to be proved wrong!) They had sold out in my area so a on a shopping visit to the nearest city I managed to pick it up in Boots on special offer.
I got it home and followed the instructions to a T. After 2 mins, the wax had liquidised in the middle but not round the egdes. After a vigorous mixing with the temperature stick (whihc had turned bright pink and actually bent!) it blended together but was way too hot.
It took 5 mins & lots of stirring for the wax to cool down to the correct temperature according to the stick.
I dipped the wooden spatula in the mixture and after winding the stringy bits of wax onto the lolly stick (which looked like I was making a spun sugar decoration I spread a thin layer of the melted sugar looking gloop onto my leg.
I waited for it to set a little and on my first attempt pelled it off to fast - it hadnt set properly and it broke off in a stringy toffee like fashion.
My 2nd attempt was just as bad, by now theres strings of sticky wax everywhere and when I braced myself to whip off the wax, it promptly snapped.
I eventually gave up as my nicely manicured nails were now covered in sticky goo (which comes off with baby oil and cotton wool) and my legs looked as hairy as when I first started!
I'd say it looks like the older wax which supposedly won awards in 2005 (I guess the purple one is new). The only thing this'd be good for is for coating apples and selling at the fair!
Summary: Expensive, time-consuming and messy. The novelty was nice, but thats about it!

thingywhatsit - 19/06/06 There is a knack to it, and I bought a special spatula to put the wax on with and swear by it. Once you have the knack, you won't look back because it is the most effective way to get rid of unwanted hair. |
