Advantages: smells better than normal creams, is effective
Disadvantages: can tingle a bit
I recently wrote about Boots hair removal spray, which I was surprised to find worked, as I hadn't ever found a hair removal cream/spray that had worked on me before. I went back to get another can, but while I was there I spotted Nair Pretty Hair Removal Cream. Having bright pink and very girly packaging, it stood out from the other predominantly white, green and blue products available, and was also on special offer. On closer inspection, I noticed that it was also Raspberry fragranced, and this pretty much sold it for me, because I hate the usual smell of hair removal creams which are usually very strong and horrible.
~About the product~
This is a cream designed to remove body hair. It is fragranced with raspberry and has added moisturisers to leave skin softer for longer. It is dermotologically tested and can be used on legs, bikini and underarms. The product also comes in a Peach fragrance according to the Nair website, although I didn't spot that in Boots, but will look out for it next time.
~Packaging~
As I said, it was the packaging which attracted me to this product in the first place. It comes in a tube, with a fabulous bright pink lid. There is lots of pink colouring on the tube, as well as a sort of cartoon picture of a girl doing yoga!? The packaging lives up to the product name - it's simply pretty. There are step by step instructions on the back of the tube, as well as little pictures too.
~Using it~
To use, you must smooth a thick, even layer of cream over the area of hair you want to remove, but do not rub it in. When I squeezed the product out, I was pleased to see that it was pink! Unfortunately, it's not quite the same bright pink as the lid of the tube - more a dusky colour, but pink is pink! It's true that it does have a raspberry fragrance, although the raspberry scent isn't very strong. You can still detect that tell-tale chemical smell, but with the raspberry covering it, it's not too bad, and certainly is one of the nicest smelling hair removal products I have ever used.
I have quite sensitive skin, and was a little bit worried as my skin seemed to be tingling quite a bit while I was using this product. I found that once I removed it the tingling stopped, and my skin felt OK again.
You need to leave the cream on for 4 minutes, and then test by removing a small amount. If the hair comes away, you can remove it, if not, leave a few more minutes, but do not exceed 10 minutes. I found that 4 minutes was sufficient, and I didn't need to wait any longer.
To remove the product they suggest using a wet was cloth to get rid of the cream and then rinse the whole area with plain water - no soap. Oh, and remember to stick the flannel in the wash, in case you or someone else uses it and ends up with no eyebrows!
~Results~
This was excellent. It got rid of all the hair and not only that, but my skin felt lovely and soft afterwards. I was really pleased with the results. It does say on the tube that the results last longer than shaving, and it could be right, as I used it four days ago now, and there still doesn't seem to be any regrowth.
~Price~
I bought this when it was on special offer in Boots but can't be certain how much I paid for it, but I'm sure it was not more than £5. I believe that this is a relatively new product and is not yet listed on the Boots website, but I have found it online at www.blushingbuyer.com for £4.99. If I remember I will update the review with the correct price once I've discovered what it is!
~Conclusion~
Well, needless to say, I absolutely love this stuff. I would definitely say that it is the best hair removal cream I have ever used. If you want to use a cream instead of shaving or waxing, but hate the smell, I would definitely recommend this. It's also very quick and effective to use. Oh, and it's pink!
