Advantages: Doesn't hurt, not as pungent as other brands

Disadvantages: Quite messy to use

I don't normally use hair removal cream as I usually wax but I saw this in my local Tesco for 99p and thought I'd give it a try as I wasn't up to my usual sticky and painful rigmarole!

The cream was advertised as being suitable for sensitive skin and all hair types, the fragrance was supposed to be Camellia oil and Ylang Ylang which sounded quite pleasant and it was dermatalogically tested. It promised "radiant silky-smooth skin" in approx 5 mins and it sounded easy to use. It all sounded quite quick and painless and for 99p I was willing to give it a whirl!

The cream was packaged in two little sachets (presumably one for each leg) an only cost 99p. This normally costs around 4.99 for a large 200ml tube so with these little sachets I didn't feel that I would be wasting any if it didn't work out too well for me. The only downside to having the sachets was that you didn't get the applicator/spatula in the pack so I was planning on using this in the shower to avoid as much mess as possible.

It does warn you on the back of the pack to do a patch test 24hr before using the product. As I suffer from sensitive skin and didn't want a gigantic rash all over my legs I did actually do this test. Thankfully no problems occurred which was a good sign.

The instructions tell you to smooth the cream on to dry legs in a thick even layer covering hair. Do not rub.

You'll need to keep a watch handy as you can't leave this product on more than 10 mins. 5 mins should suffice but I left mine on about to the maximum time to ensure silky soft legs (plus I'd used up all the cream and didn't want to be left with any hairy patches!!).

Then you should shower off with lukewarm water using a wet cloth if necessary, do not rub or use any soap! This part of the instructions put the end to using this in the shower, hot water, wet legs and shower gel didn't seem a good mix to use with this product.

The cream itself is a pinkish thick cream which smells mainly chemically with a bit of floral scent in there somewhere although unfortunately it doesn't quite cover the smell of the cream, it's definitely not as strong or pungent as I was expecting it to be.

As I didn't have any applicator with this cream I had to apply it with my hands which wasn't too pleasant as it makes your skin smell a little (maybe I should have invested in a pair of gloves too) and it does tell you to wash off hands as soon as possible. The cream is quite thick and gloopy and once applied does stay on quite well even when wandering about waiting for the time to be up.

It did tingle a little once applied but it wasn't unbearable and it didn't produce any burning sensation. Like I said I left it almost the full 10 mins just to make sure. On inspection the cream appeared to have done the job quite well. I jumped in the shower and used a cloth to remove the cream as it wasn't coming off without a little help and it helped to loosen any stubborn hairs that were clinging on!

I was fairly impressed with the results, it did remove the majority of the hair and left my legs feeling smooth and soft. It did leave a few stubbly bits behind but I think that's where I didn't apply the cream quite thick enough. To my surprise, despite rubbing my skin a little to get the cream off under the shower, no red patches or irritation!!

For 99p I though it wasn't too bad value for money. It's something I would buy again as a back up to waxing but wouldn't use this on a regular basis as I found it quite messy. One of the up sides to using this brand rather than others I've used in the past is the smell. It doesn't linger nearly as long as other creams and the morning after the night before, I could hardly detect the smell at all in the bathroom!!

Summary: Good to use if you're inbetween waxes.

Sounds a lot better than the Veet I've tended to use!

99p is a bargain - I use Nair Pretty, I've not actually tried the normal Nair ones yet
