Neal's Yard Remedies Frankincense & Mandarin Body Lotion‏

When I had my little boy one of the mummy gifts I received was some lovely Neals Yard Remedies products and one of these was this gorgeous frankincense and mandarin hand lotion. I have used their frankincense products in the past and really loved them so I was happy to receive this cream. Frankincense is a popular ingredient in perfumes, incense and beauty products nowadays. It is an aromatic resin obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia but for me will always be associated with the gifts given to baby Jesus!

Just a little bit on the background of Neals Yard Remedies in case you haven't heard of them but if you haven't where have you been?! Their products are some of my favourite cosmetics but I don't always use them as they are very expensive. Neal's Yard Remedies is a British chain of cosmetics stores. Its main aim or focus should I say is on natural remedies and getting away from the synthetic chemical approach to beauty and skincare that most other companies out there seem to have. They say on their website that their vision was to bring the expertise of the apothecary and a holistic approach to health and beauty to local people and their communities.
They actually have the following statement on their website, "What matters to us are people, their health and their happiness. We're obsessed with discovering and delivering natural ways to improve health and well-being and delivering outstanding natural and organic skin and body care products. We also believe passionately that our environment is of vital importance, both in its own right, and as the source of many of the plants and herbs vital to our wellbeing. That's why we actively support and promote organic,"

The first Neal's Yard Remedies shop actually opened as far back as 1981. It was opened in a corner of Neal's Yard in Covent Garden, London, hence the name. The founder, Romy Fraser. was interested in alternative medicine and wanted to bring together all the varying natural remedies available in one shop.

THis cream is absolutely lovely. Its quite a thick cream which I really like as it seems very luxurious and rich and does wonders for my dry skin. I don't apply it as an all over body lotion, I like to use it really just on my hands and in targeted places to feel really special. It contains
toning frankincense and mandarin combined with an essential fatty acid rich blend of jojoba, almond and pumpkin seed oils to moisturise and replenish for softer, firmer skin. It also has antioxidant hemp seed oil which I really like. I have used hemp products in the past and they have always been quite moisturising to my skin and this cream is no different. I really feel like my skin is getting a nice drink of moisture when I use this cream and it does give me a really nice glow.

What I love about their products is the packaging which is very unique and individual and to me gives the products a very upmarket look. Most of the products are housed in dark blue glass bottles with contrasting purple labels. The bottles are made to look like apothecary bottles of old and there really is a classic look to them. This cream is comes in a nice tall glass jar with a pump action at the top so it is easy to get the cream out and spread it on you. The cream is rather expensive, a 200ml bottle costs £21 but it is very well made, will last a long time and has a fragrance I definitely recommend.
