Nina Ricci Ricci Ricci Body Lotion
Advantages: skin softening, absorbs quickly
Disadvantages: quite pricey, smell is slightly different to the matching perfume
I wrote a while ago about Nina Ricci's Ricci Ricci perfume and how much I loved the scent. When I bought it, I purposely spent a bit extra to get it in a set with a matching body lotion. The reason for this, is when I had used another Nina Ricci scent - Nina - I found that the body lotion was excellent and left my skin incredibly soft and smooth, so I was hoping that since this was from the same brand it would have the same effect.
The Ricci Ricci lotion comes in a white tube which has a screw top lid. The actual Ricci Ricci fragrance comes in a deep purple bottle which is adorned with a bow. The logo on the tube of body lotion has a ribbon of the same colour, but it is not in a bow, which I think is a shame, as that would have tied in more with the matching fragrance. The Nina Ricci name is printed on the tube in metallic silver, but other than that I feel the packaging is fairly plain given that this is not a particularly cheap product.
The lotion is white in colour and a rather thin consistency. It rubs into the skin easily and I find that only a small amount is needed to cover a large area of skin, as being so thin it spreads easily.
One of the best things about this lotion is the speed at which it is absorbed into the skin. One of my pet hates with body lotions is that many of them have a tendency to sit on the skin, feeling heavy and greasy and sticking to clothes and anything else that may come into contact with the skin. In contrast, this lotion sinks in almost immediately, leaving absolutely no residue whatsoever. This is a huge plus point for me, as it means no waiting around to get dressed and no sticking to my clothes!
The scent of the lotion is very similar to the fragrance of the perfume, although I personally feel there is something slightly different about it, which I unfortunately can't quite put my finger on. Saying that, it's still a nice fragrance and is a very close match, so is more than suitable if you're someone who likes to layer your fragrances.
If you're not familiar with the scent of Ricci Ricci, I'll try my best to describe it. I'd say it is a very warm scent, and it's quite sensual and sexy and whenever I have worn the Ricci Ricci perfume my boyfriend has commented that I smell nice. It has quite a fruity and zesty overtone - it actually is supposed to smell like rhubarb, but I find it to be a little zingier than that, with a hint of deep rose. It's very feminine and has quite a depth to it, without being strong or overpowering in any way.
I think in the body lotion the scent is slightly lighter than in the perfume, so wearing the two together does not give off too powerful a scent, yet the body lotion is still fragranced enough so that when worn alone it can be smelled on the skin.
I must admit, when I first got this lotion I was not very impressed with it, as it didn't seem to make my skin feel very soft. Now after a few more months of occasional use, I'm not quite sure why I thought that, as on the last few times I've used it (including today), I've found that it has left my skin feeling incredibly smooth and baby soft.
I have just a 50ml tube of this, which came in a gift set along with the perfume. Unfortunately this particular set no longer appears to be available, however you can buy the full sized 100ml tube individually from John Lewis for £13.49. Personally I feel that is quite expensive, and although this is a lovely product, I'm not sure I would say it is worth that price.
On the whole, I do think this is a good product. As I said, I don't feel the scent matches the fragrance exactly, however it is very close, and when you wear the lotion together with the perfume the fragrances seem to mingle well. Although it leaves my skin soft, I do think it is a little bit overpriced so for that reason it would have to lose a star.
Summary: Another good Nina Ricci Lotion
