My mum actually bought this for me in a Nivea express hydration set for Christmas where this lotion was accompanied by the lip balm and hand cream from the same range. I've no idea what she paid for the set but I can't imagine it was more than £5. On its own you can expect to pay somewhere around £2 for this lotion full price.
I do suffer with dry skin and this is mainly a problem on my feet but also on my legs, especially straight after shaving them. Therefore I was quite sure that this product would be brilliant to use after shaving my legs. As it is a Nivea product I did have high expectations.
The product comes in a bottle exactly the same as the one shown above. I like the bottles shape and think it looks a little bit different on the shelf compared to other brands. There is a flip top cap. The bottle is 250ml in size.
To use the lotion is simple you just apply it to your skin and rub it in. For best results it should be applied daily. I first used this straight after showering. I wanted to moisturise my legs especially and being the impatient little so and so that I am I applied the lotion to damp skin. Initially I was concerned that it might not be absorbed properly because it had mixed with water but it absorbed quickly and easily and I was able to get dressed within a couple of minutes.
The lotion is quite thick and definitely has a creamy texture. It is bright white and even when I was applying it to my skin I could feel my skin being soothed and nourished. I applied this last over 48 hours ago now but my skin is still soft, supple and hydrated which would definitely not be the case without this lotion.
I am pleased with this lotion and it definitely lived up to my high expectations of the Nivea range. A little bit goes a long way and it really helps out dry skin. When my bottle runs out I think it is more than likely another will end up on my shelf.
At this time of the year my skin can be very dry, especially the skin on the front of my legs which can get quite scaly in patches. I have to use a good quality all over body moituriser but at the same time I don't want to pay the earth and it needs to be a brand I know and trust. I use Nivea express hydratration body lotion which I buy from Boots. Boots sell it for £5.10 for a 400ml sized bottle at the moment though it also comes in a smaller bottle but it obviously works out cheaper to buy the largest sized bottle. The bottle is plastic and slightly curved with a flip back lid.
The reason I like this lotion so much is that it actually works. It's so effective at combating dry skin but it also works well on those part of my body which are not so dry and it ever leaves behind a sticky residue or a tacky feeling on the skin. I use this lotion a few times a week, but not every evening and so a bottle of this size last me for a few months as I also use a combination of other body moisturisers too, depending upon how I'm feeling and how dry my skin seems to be.
This lotion is white in colour and quite thick in consistency. It smells fresh and clean, and almost has a sea mineral fragrance to it which I cannot quite put my finger on. It contains something called Hydra IQ technology which apparently enables the lotion to keep on mosturising your skin up to 24 hours after application. I do agree that it has made my skin feel far less scaly and dry than it was previously and I definitely do feel like it has added back some much needed moisture to my poor old shins. I think the trick is apply it regularly however, for the very best results and to maintain the moisture level in the skin. The ingredients include the following:
Aqua, Glycerin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Alcohol Denat., Glyceryl Glucoside, Glyceryl Stearate SE, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Maris Sal, Sodium Carbomer, Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate, Dimethicone, Methylisothiazolinone, Phenoxyethanol, Linalool, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, Citronellol, Parfum
It dries quite quickly after application which means that I don't have to stand waiting around for ages before I can get dressed. It's a lovely product and I trust Nivea as a brand. It's not too expensive and I'm happy to keep on using it
I have always sufferered from dry skin and have tried every product going. Lots do the job well but usually only last a short time before you have to reapply. Usually I moisturize twice a day. Another issue that is often present when you go for an intense moisturizing product is that they are thick, take an age to rub in and leave a sticky residue which is annoying when you want to just slap it on and go! I got a free sample of Nivea Express Hydrating Body Lotion from a mag and thought I would give it a try. Opening the sample I didn't hold out much hope that it would be any better than anything I had already tried especially as it seemed very runny (unusual for an hydrating lotion) but I was quite pleasantly surprised. The lotion went on very well and sunk in nicely and without too much effort. It was very light but felt like it was making a real difference to my dry legs and once rubbed in although there was slight stickiness this quickly disappeared. My legs felt smooth and hydrated and 12 hrs on still feel soft and look great (no dryness at all). The product is unfragranced but the smell is pleasant. I was impressed and will be going out to purchase a full size bottle especially as spring appears to have sprung and my legs need to be soft and supple for summer wear!
One of the most important things in my daily skincare regime is a decent body moisturiser. A lot of the moisturisers I have tried in my time have taken forever to sink in which in itself I don't mind but when you're stuck for time, a faster absorbing lotion is more convenient. My skin is usually ok but can get a little dry at times, especially when its cold. One of my friends had recommended this very moisturiser to me days before I bought it so when spotted it in my local Co-op at half price, I picked up two. Here is my review for Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion for Normal to Dry skin:
1. The Smell:
For me this is the most important factor when choosing any smellies, be it body lotions, shower gels, face creams, deodorants or haircare. This has a really light fragrance with a fresh undertone to it, which I guess must be the Sea Minerals that Nivea list as the main ingredient in this. It doesn't fade when you apply it to your skin either which I find some moisturisers can, to my disappointment. Smell gets 4 stars from me.
2. The Application:
This is very important when it comes to moisturisers. I mean nobody wants anything so runny it falls off your skin nor do they want a texture so thick its almost hard and therefore hard to apply do they? The consistency of this lotion is spot on in my opinion. It feels light and really does absorb very quickly and it feels moisturising on the skin as it rubs in very easily and a little goes a long way. I can get dressed almost instantly after applying this which is fab on those mad mornings where every second counts! It's perfect for me. Application gets 5 stars from me.
3. The Result:
This is of course important. This lotion absorbs so quickly and leaves my skin silky soft and the softness lasts all day long. My skin has had a tendency to become dry of lately due to the cold weather and I must admit when I saw it was for normal to dry skin I wasn't holding that much hope this would improve the levels of moisture in my skin let alone last as long as it did so I am very impressed! Even when I get up the next morning I can feel a difference in how my skin feels! This product has really improved my skin's moisture levels big time since I started using it daily 2 weeks ago. Result gets 5 stars from me!
Overall this is a fantastic body lotion from Nivea. I never expected it to be as moisturising as it is and I would recommend it to everyone I know! Price wise a 250ml bottle of this can be found for around the £3 - £4 mark which I feel does it justice, but this brand is often on offer in chemists and supermarkets so keep an eye open.
This is a great product from nivea, even if you are one who normally finds the brand to be a bit heavy or sticky on the skin. Its hydrating effect feels light and airy on the skin and seems to perk the skin up, while the moisturiser in the mix is very smooth and feels great to the touch. While it might not stand out in the supermarkets, with its plain white and blue packaging design, it is certainly worth picking up as it is so cheap and lasts for a good month or so at least, depending on how often you use it. It only really needs to be used once a day and it really does last all day even on the face with makeup on it. Best used before bed to wake up feeling fresh and with great skin! A great skin product for women of all ages.
It was my Birthday in June and I was brought a basket of toiletry goodies and in there was a bottle of Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion.
I have now been using it for 6 weeks and decided it's time to review.
It's in an attractive white, curvy 250ml bottle with the well known blue "Nivea" writing. On the top there is a flip top lid which secures nicely after use.
The front of the bottle is informative without boring or bogged down with writing.
I tend to use this within an hour of getting out of the bath/shower and as claimed it does absorb within seconds.
I try to use it everyday but on average it's more like every other day. I do not apply it to my face only my body and always tend to use a bit more over my elbows/knees. After applying it leaves my skin feeling smooth and with a lovely light fragrance. It claims the scent is Blue Lotus however I have never smelt Blue Lotus so can not comment if it replicates the smell well!!
On application be careful as the lotion is a little watery.
As I got this as a present I was unaware of the cost so have done a little research.
You can buy this from -
Tesco - £3.49
Asda - £2.00
Amazon - £2.99
There is a huge variation in cost between retailers but after 6 weeks of use I still have approximately half the bottle left so even at £3.49 its good value for money.
I really like this Nivea body lotion it is in an attractive and easy to use bottle. The lotion is easy to apply and does absorb fast which is convenient.
I like the subtle smell it leaves on your skin, it claims the scent lasts on your skin for 24 hours but I would say it's more like 8 hours but I use it for it's moisturising benefits not it's fragrance so that doesn't bother me.
I would definitely buy this product again and recommend it to anyone.
After having yet again gone over the luggage weight allowance for my suitcase, I had to leave behind lots of my beauty products including my body moisturiser. This meant that the first day of my holiday was, as usual, spent at the local supermarket repurchasing the cheapest alternatives I could find.
As for a body moisturiser, the cheapest I could find was the Express Hydration Body Lotion by Nivea. I had previously owned a different body moisturiser by Nivea and found it to be very greasy on the skin so I didn't hold out high hopes for this one but I didn't have the funds with me to choose anything else.
What does the product do?
The product promises to provide you with a long lasting moisture that will keep your skin soft for up to 24 hours. A special technology within the lotion gives a non stop moisture supply to the skin, meaning that reapplication becomes unnecessary. It also promises be quickly absorbed, leave behind a fresh scent and to nourish the skin with Sea Minerals. It has been specifically designed for use on normal to dry skin.
How does it work?
The science behind how this lotion works is a little confusing. There is a video on the Nivea website which you can watch but they use a lot of technical jargon that doesn't actually make much sense unless you happen to be a scientist.
They have basically developed a technology called Hydra IQ which allows the skin to receive a constant dose of moisture from within the skin. The formula been created using information about how Blue Algae manages to retain its moisture in extremely salty conditions and mimics the process in our own skin. It does so using natural ingredients which work in the same way that the skin cells normally would but gives it an extra enhancement.
Glycerin is included due to the fact that it is a humectant. This means that it helps to draw water into the skin. When our skin becomes dehydrated, wrinkles begin to form but the extra water which the Glycerin draws into the skin means that the skin retains its elasticity and keeps it looking toned and firm. The substance ensures that the skin is moisturised and remains hydrated.
How do you use the product?
This lotion is to be used in the same way as any other moisturiser. It is to be applied to clean, dry skin and smoothed into the body using upward strokes. I use a circular motion on my thighs to reduce the appearance of my cellulite. I also pay special attention to stubborn dry areas on my body such as my knees and elbows.
It can be used after bathing or simply when your skin needs a bit more moisture. I wouldn't advice you to use this on the face as it has been specifically designed for use on the body and it could cause blemishes.
Packaging and Price
The lotion comes contained within a thick white plastic bottle with a flip top lid and one side of the bottle is curved. It has blue writing on the front, the Nivea logo and a clock face to represent the fact that the hydration should last 24 hours. It is easy to squeeze the lotion out of the bottle but as I am nearly at the end now, I can see that there will be lots left in the bottle that I won't be able to access so I'll end up having to cut it open. Waste not, want not!
The product will cost you around £3.57 for 250ml of the lotion although it was much cheaper when I bought mine in Italy. If you prefer a larger 400ml bottle is available for around £5. The product is widely available and can be bought from department stores such as Boots, most supermarkets and a variety of online websites.
The product has a very fresh and clean scent. Nivea have added the scent of the Blue Lotus Flower but it doesn't smell at all floral. It is simply very refreshing and will not ruin any perfume that you wear. The colour of the product is creamy white with an ever so subtle pearly finish.
The product is long lasting. I have been using it as an after sun product so I have been applying it every evening for seven weeks and I am just coming to the end of my 250ml bottle now.
The express hydration has quite a thick consistency compared to other lotions I've used. Nevertheless, it does get absorbed by the skin super fast and seems to melt into the body. It leaves behind absolutely no greasy residue or uncomfortable stickiness and only leaves a very subtle sheen on the skin that makes it look healthy.
As for its claims that it last for 24 hours, I would have to agree to some extent. I apply it in the evening to my very thirsty skin and it makes my body feel instantly more comfortable. When I wake up in the morning, my skin still feels soft and nourished, including the tricky dry spots like my knees and elbows. This cream gives the skin a healthy glow and it prevents my body from looking dull.
It leaves your skin feeling really moisturised and keep it moisturised for ages. It makes your skin feel soft and smooth. I have not experienced any dry or flaky skin when I have used this daily and it really makes my skin feel comfortable again when I have been in the sun all day. It has prevented my skin from peeling and as I store mine in the fridge, it soothes any of my skin that may have become a little burnt in the sunshine.
All in all, this is a lotion that gives long lasting hydration to the skin. It is quickly absorbed and never greasy so you won't need to wait before dressing. It comes with a refreshing scent and keeps you feeling comfortable all day long. This lotion is streets ahead of the other Nivea lotions that I've tried.
