Advantages: Leave my hands feeling soft with no dry skin

Disadvantages: None

Having now reached the "tender" age of 40 I have found myself reaching more and more for the pro-age, age-defying ranges in beauty products. Not that I particularly feel I show any signs of wrinkles or lines yet, but I do feel the need to try and prevent them more! I have very dry skin all over with my fingertips actually feeling like sandpaper most of the time. There are not many products I have found that have managed combat the dry skin on my hands, of course I don't help myself either by not using rubber gloves at all whilst washing dishes, cleaning with bleach etc. I really hate rubber gloves!

Whilst wasting time and money browsing around Tesco buying things I don't need, I noticed a travel size of Nivea Q10 Age-Defying Hand Cream. It was situated beside all their travel products. A 30ml tube for 97p. Quite a good size, not too small, a fine size for my handbag and a good price too.

The tube is a pearlescent gold colour with a dark blue flip lid. The name Age-Defying Q10 Plus is across the front with a banner telling us they have now added double strength Q10. There is also a small amount of information about the product on the back along with the full list of ingredients. This product should be used within 12 months of opening.

Coenzyme Q10 is what our skin naturally uses to repair skin cells and help keep them smoother and firmer for longer. As we age it is said we need more of this to help fight these terrible signs of aging we constantly hear about in the media. Not being a scientist I can't really back these claims up but I am willing to give products a go, to me that's the best way to find out if something works well or not! The hand cream also contains UV filters designed again to help prevent damage from the sun's rays.

When I first used this hand cream I didn't think it was going to be any good for my really dry hands. It felt more like a lotion rather than a thick cream, a bit runnier than I had expected, but I massaged it into my skin well as directed. It was easily and quickly absorbed, something I like, as I hate greasy hands. It was not highly fragranced but did leave a subtle scent on my skin, reminding me somewhat of suntan lotion and summer. I do apply hand cream several times throughout the day but my favourite time to apply hand cream is just before I go to bed because I know it will stay on my skin and not be washed off while doing dishes etc., giving it a chance to work its magic. As I bought this hand cream in the evening, bed time was the first time I applied it, so I was interested to see what the results would be in the morning.

When I woke up my hands were still really soft and no sandpaper fingertips. I was amazed, I'd only used it once! It also seemed to leave my skin feeling like it had a protective coating over it, even after washing they still felt as though they had just been moisturised. My hands really feel wonderful at the moment, I just can't get over strongly enough what a transformation this hand cream has made to the skin on my hands. I feel a bit of an idiot ranting about hand cream like this but when you have suffered from really sore and dry skin on your hands for as long as I have, you tend to get a bit cynical towards all the claims these companies make about their products and what they will do for you, some of these products also being very expensive.

I can proudly say I have found a hand cream, Nivea Age-Defying Q10 Plus, which actually does what it says at a very low price. The travel size I bought cost me 97p for 30ml. Now before I bought this size I wanted to check out the price for the full size tube first, just to make sure I wasn't being done, and I found out I would actually be cheaper buying 4 tubes of the travel size, giving me 120ml for £3.88 as the full size tube of 100ml costs £4.16!

I am not going to list all the ingredients as there are too many but they are clearly listed on the back of the tube.

Many thanks for reading and I hope this will help someone out there.

Summary: A tube of hand cream that goes everywhere with me now.
