Advantages: great smell, leaves skin soft and protected

Disadvantages: skin becomes greasy after a while

I never really know which sun cream to buy as we're constantly bombarded with different information but I have relatively olive skin so only need mild protection to stop me burning. It seems that every year a whole host of new sun lotions hit the shelves each promising to be better than the next.

I brought this particular sun tan lotion last year as it was on offer in Boots at £4.39( its usually about £8). I decided to buy it for a number of reasons. I'm not particularly fussy when it somes to sun tan lotion as long as it protects my skin and smells good. A friend had told me that you should wear SPF 15 at all times but I wanted to get a tan and I don't burn easily so I brought SPF 8. I went for this particular brand partly because it was on offer (which made me spot it in the first place) and partly because it smelt the est whihc is important to me. It also moisturises skin which is a bonus and avoids skin drying out in the hot weather.

I did notice that my skin felt very soft after application but this is the case with most sun creams isn't it? It definitely did the job because I was able to develop a nice tan without burning but I found that my skin became greasy after some time, not all over my body but after a few hours my face was shining brighter than the sun. I wasn't all that bothered by this though as the sun cream was doing it's job and I've found that that happens with every sun cream I use.

After I'd been in the sea the sun lotion appeared to still be working but the packaging said to reapply after going in the water so this is what I did. I have tried other sun lotions before such as Boots own brand Soltan. When I brought the spray on version of this I found it was too runny. This product was thicker and more like a cream which I prefer. One
thing I have noticed about this sun lotion is that a little goes a long way. I used it all last summer whenever I knew I would be in the sun for a long time and my 200ml bottle is still 3/4 full which is great. I can use it this summer too.

The packaging is quite a bright blue with the Nivea Sun logo at the top the SPF is clearly labelled and the packaging advertises the fact that it blocks out UVA and UVB rays. On the back is all the information about the product such as what skin type it is uitable for and how often to reapply etc.

Remember that young children need a higher Sun Protection Factor (SPF) and that you should find out what level of protection you need as different skin types need diferent SPF's.

Whenever I smell this it still reminds me of the fantastic summer holidays. My advice would be buy this if you have dry skin as I?m sure it would be great for that but not for oily skin.

Enjoy the summer and stay safe in the sun!

Thanks for reading!

I wear sunscreen every day because I don't want wrinkles when I'm older (vain I know!) but prefer Boots Soltan to this because it seems less greasy! x

I'm really pale so I always wear factor 20 - even in Britain! I figure, I'd rather be pale now and smooth skinned when I'm old than brown now and wrinkly like a prune once I hit 40! Emma x

I've not used this one before - I normally get Soltan as Boots tend to do some good offers on it leading up to summer (mind you they seem to do a lot of good offers on all the sun care products!)
Good review!
