No 7 & Protect and Perfect Hand Cream.............

Hand cream to me is a must have item. I have different kinds of bottles and tubes in every bag I own and in every room of the house. The main reasons I need to have so much hand cream is probably due to the fact that I work in an environment where I handle lots of paper and this I believe dries out my hands. I tend to always be cleaning something when I am at home as well and often have my hands in and out of water (without gloves) several times per day.

This I think makes me some what of an expert when it comes to hand creams but it was only relatively recently that I was lucky enough to get a sample of this particular hand cream from No.7 - Protect and Perfect.

---Price and Packaging---

The hand cream comes looking just like all the other products from the No.7 range and that is rather simple but classic and a little classy. The tube itself is white/cream in colour with the No 7 written in gold lettering. The whole tube looks rather appealing and I would say that the only draw back is that it has a screw cap and this is rather annoying once you have creamed your hands up as they are always rather slippery and it can be a struggle to get the lid on correctly. However as this is only a sample size I am unsure whether the regular tube would have a better design.

Again as I have said previously this tube I am reviewing was a sample (25ml) tube but I have looked it up and if you were to buy the full sized tube (75ml) you would be looking at paying £10. Although this price can be dramatically reduced if you wait till they have special offers on such as 3 for 2 or when they give out £5 off No.7 coupons.

---Smell and look----

The smell of this protect and perfect hand cream is really very pleasing. It has rather a strong smell but one that is clean and refreshing rather than perfumed. The smell is strong when smelling from the tube although this fades a bit once the cream has been massaged into the hands.

The cream inside the tube is coloured brilliant white and not at all the creamy colour that I had been expecting. Together the colour and the smell work well and make for a rather appealing product.

---Product Itself---

"A Little Manicure Everyday..." Well this hand cream looks and smells good but does it actually work? I have used this hand cream for everyday for the past couple of weeks and have used it alongside others (depending on what room I am in when I need a bit of cream!) And I do think my hands feel softer and perhaps don't need as much cream as they usually do. I don't think my hands look any younger but they do feel soft and nice.

I use around a 20 pence piece sized blob on my hands and work the cream into the front and back of both hands. This takes little time as the cream is quickly absorbed into my needy hands. I am not left with greasy hands at all but there is a kind of "sheen" left on them. I can feel for a good half an hour to an hour after applying the hand cream that I have had something on them but this is not necessarily a bad thing. I do dislike hand creams that leave you feeling so greasy that you can't touch anything until it has totally dried in or until you wash your hands! The Hand cream itself contains and SPF of 15 which I think every hand cream should have especially around this time of year.

---Claims----

Boots claim that this Protect and Perfect No.7 Hand Cream reduces the look of fine lines and makes your hands look noticeably different within two weeks! Being relatively sprightly I consider my hands to have yet to face the damages of age therefore I don't feel that I could either support or dispute these claims. I would expect to see some difference if indeed I did have fine lines but to me after using this hand cream for around a couple of weeks they appear the same but perhaps a little softer.

---Conclusion---

I personally really liked this No. 7 Protect and Perfect Hand Cream and was glad I had it as a sample. I do however think that for me this is not the best product. It has quite a hefty price tag on it as a usual purchase and this is not something I could afford considering how much hand cream I tend to use on a weekly basis.

The fact that it is from the Protect and Perfect range might appeal to those who are older than me and I could see why. I think when my hands start to show the signs of age (and they will) I would be happy to pay a little bit extra for something like this if it does indeed work. Until then however I think I will stick to a cheaper brand that suits my needs better.

I do like the Neutrogena Hand Creams as these are priced reasonably and work well with my skin. On the whole however I do like this product and I think I will be awarding it a 4 star rating and giving it a recommendation. It may not be the product for me but there is some appeal.

I do hope this has been of some help/interest to you

Many thanks for taking the time to read.

Summary: A hand cream I will probably turn to in a few years!

I'm sorry - I have so much to worry about on the rest of my body, that "fine lines on my hands" are not something I care about! Silly advertising - great review though!

Thanks for the info. My hands are starting to look older and I have a tube of this at home, will give it a try.
