Advantages: Clears Dry Skin
Disadvantages: Slippy So Careful When Getting Out The Bath
As I am a bloke, I don't like using five different creams for various parts of the body. Sure I use the odd hand cream and face cream, but I'm not fussy for brands. But last year I fell upon a great alternative for these creams, Oilatum. What Is It? ********************************************** ******* Oilatum is a bath emollient, this means that you add it to the water in your bath. But you must remember to add it as the water is running, so that it has chance to mix properly. It is mainly for topical treatment of skin disorders such as eczema. What else can I use it for? ********************************************** ******* It is also great for people with mild skin irritation, such as rashes like nappy rash. When we had to use a cheap nappy on my son once, he got a really bad rash on his widgey. Now in this sensitive area even some creams can irritate, but half a cap full in about six inches of warm water, and two baths later it had cleared. I also take it abroad wherever I go abroad, because when you have been in the sun for a prolonged amount of time Your skin can feel a little dry. I just add Oilatum to my bath in the evening, and hey presto a great form of aftersun. I also find it good as the water can be quite hard leaving the skin feeling rubbery, it also stops that too. So really no matter weather you feel you don't need this product, you would be wrong because it has an ongoing list of uses. It is also non perfumed so it is good for people who can't use perfumed products. How much do you need to put in? ********************************************** ******* For Adults: In eight inch of water add 2 capfulls (20ml) In four inch of water add 1 capful (10ml) For infants and children (not recommended for children under 6 mths old) For children simply add about up to half a capfull per bath (1-5ml) how much does it cost? ****
************************************************* Oilatum is not very cheap as it costs about four or five quid for a 150ml bottle. But remember how little you need to use, so this means that it is cheaper than the cream because it will last longer. What does it look like? ********************************************** ******* I believe there are two kinds in this range. Normal oilatum, The bottle is mainly blue with white writing on it, the name is written in large letters so you can't miss it. Oilatum Plus, this bottle is mainly white with blue writing, also with the name in large letters. You will mostly find this product amongst the various creams and other topical treatments that are on sale. Where can I buy some? ********************************************** ******* You will not find this product at your local shop, it is mainly sold by your local chemist. But I would be more inclined to go to boots or superdrug, as it can be a bit cheaper (plus I get points on my boots card) You can also get it on prescription from the doctors I found out recently, which is a bonus cos I get free prescriptions (well being diabetic has to have an up side dunnit!!) Conclusion ********************************************** ****** Get yourself out and buy some, for whatever reason just pick one!!! It is great for familys, adults and children. even though not cheap, a bottle will last ages, and you never know when it could come in handy. But believe me I guarantee you it will at some point and you will you glad you had it. Even if just for pampered skin purposes you can get out of the bath with silky smoothe skin every time. ******************Quick warning******************* It makes your bath slippy so be sure to keep an eye on young children. they can easily slip whilst in the bath, or when getting out of the bath. I would recommend getting one of th
ose rubber bath mats to help with stability. Also with older people the same steps of precaution should be taken. Also always remember to rinse the bath out straight after use, and always avois contact with eyes. And for those stupid people put there, Don't drink it i'm sure it doesn't taste very nice. But if the need takes you for whatever reason, follow it up with plenty of milk or water and for gods sake. Seek medical attention cos you obviously needed to in the first place!!!!!!
