I discovered Ole Henriksen skin care products a few years ago when we lived in Denmark. Ole Henriksen is Danish, his products are obviously very popular in Denmark, and also in the US. I made my first Ole Henriksen purchase in Denmark, but since then I've tended to buy the products in the US as they're much cheaper over there (isn't everything!), I've also seen Ole Henriksen skin care products on sale in Harvey Nicks.
Ole Henriksen products are not especially cheap, I typically pay around $25 for the lavender body oil, which comes in a 355ml bottle. But they are definitely indulgent and luxury products, they make a luxurious treat for yourself or as a gorgeous gift for someone.
The lavender body oil is kind of a clear yellow in colour, and it's not actually as thick as some oils can be, it's quite a liquid oil, it's not actually all that greasy either. I do use this sparingly, as although I've just said it's not a greasy oil it can actually leave a slight oily residue if you use a bit too much. And also it's very expensive, so that's another reason that I use it sparingly!
It's suitable for all skin types, and it contains; Lavender oil - which repairs, balances, heals, soothes and relaxes. Sesame oil - which nourishes and enhances resiliency with essential fatty acids. And Sweet Almond oil - which nourishes, soothes, softens and protects
When I use this as a body oil then I will just massage literally only a very small amount into my damp skin after a shower or a bath. It soaks into my skin completely and dries without leaving any greasy residue behind. This leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated, and locks all the moisture into my skin. This works best massaged into my damp skin as it soaks into my skin better this way, it doesn't soak in as easily on my dry skin. I use this all over my body, and I don't need to use much of it as a little really does go a long way.
When I use this as a bath oil then I just pour a very small amount under the warm running water, and then soak in the divinely scented, wonderfully soft bath water for a little while. When I step out of the bath I can actually feel that the oil has left a slight covering on my skin. This leaves my skin super soft and smelling gorgeous, it doesn't leave my skin greasy in any way at all. This also leaves the bathroom smelling absolutely wonderful as well. It does leave a slight oily residue in the bath, but then I find all bath oils do this anyway.
Another use for this oil is as a make up remover; apparently it dissolves make up, dirt and excess oils, you would then follow it up with your normal cleanser. I've tried this and to be honest it doesn't work for me. I find it to be too greasy and too heavy for my face, I also don't think that it removes all my make up effectively either. I'm left with a slightly greasy feeling to my skin when I've used it this way and I find that it seems to make me more prone to spots too.
Obviously another use for this body oil would be as a massage oil.
The lavender body oil has a really soothing and calming fragrance, it's actually quite an intoxicating fragrance and it's really heady with the lavender. I find that this is the perfect evening / night time fragrance and it really helps me to wind down and fall asleep. I only use this after my evening shower or bath. I've found that if I use it after my morning shower then it actually makes me sleepy again, I need all the help that I can get to wake up and come around in the morning and this actually hinders rather than helps me!
It's very expensive, but I'd definitely recommend it. It smells and feels very indulgent, and it's perfect for a spot of pampering.
A fabulous, multi-purpose body oil that is simple enough to use every day and perfect for use all over the body, after showering, before your body moisturiser, for body massage and as a pre-cleanser makeup-melter / The sesame, almond and lavender oils provide skin with luminosity, while the lavenders anti-inflammatory and regenerating properties are amazing and it's also paraben-free /
