Advantages: None that matter
Disadvantages: Doesn't work
I don't often award products only one star. This is partly because I think most products have some sort of redeeming feature, and partly because it just makes me feel mean! However Oral B Satin Tape is definitely an exception, as there's no way I could give it more than one star!
The new Oral B Satin Tape is packaged in a light blue, semi transparent container like the one pictured above, however I have a slightly older version which is packaged in the same shape, but is an opaque white colour instead. I'm glad that they have changed the packaging as not being able to see how much floss is left is one of the many annoying things about my floss.
The container carries 25 metres of floss, which makes it not very good value in comparison to supermarket own brands such as Tesco's, which cost less but contain 50 metres.
When you pull the floss out of the container it does look like tape rather than string, unlike some other flosses, as it has flat sides. It has a strong minty smell, which translates to a slight and not unpleasant minty taste in the mouth.
However the floss does not work for me at all. It slides easily in and out between teeth and doesn't shred or split, but it also doesn't achieve anything. No matter how much I move it around, it doesn't remove debris. I can spend ages with this floss, and then still spend ten seconds with another brand of floss afterwards and remove loads of things that this floss has missed. I think maybe it is because it is so slippery or 'satin' like, that it just doesn't have any grip on food particles.
Oral B Satin Tape Dental Floss costs £1.68 from Sainsbury's or can be bought at most other supermarkets or pharmacies, but I would advise you to save your money and buy a different brand.
Summary: It's going in the bin!
