Advantages: Clean, smells nice
Disadvantages: Bit sweet
I suppose I could have taken the op I posted yesterday and replaced all the mentions of Lemon with Lime. That would be really lazy and although I am in fact really, really lazy I’ll graft away at a whole new opinion for you, my lucky, lucky reader. I hope you feel all special and warm inside because I’m sending you love right now. Hmmmmmm. Sorry about that I think that might be the sugar rush from lunch talking. OK standard OS op stuff first we talk about Ellen Wakeman, nice bush lady from OZ who made herbal pick me ups and ran around the outback getting a reputation bad enough to disown herself from polite society. This was all around the turn of the century and lost as story until the nice people at Original Source decided to, rip it off, ahem, use it as inspiration for their products. I’m sure Ellen never had shower gel in mind when she was pulling miner teeth in some stinking outback bar room but we like to look at history through rose tinted specs, Hmmmmmmmm. Next we talk about what it does, since it’s shower gel, this should be a cinch. Simply step into the shower wet yourself all over and apply liberally using a flannel, your hand or one of those lovely buff puff things. My kids have a buff puff shaped like a ballerina hippo, like the ones from Disney’s Fantasia, I always find it quite amusing that it’s regularly used to clean backsides with. I’m sure uncle Walt would never approve. So we have clearly established the fact you use shower gel for showering (of course you could use it in a bath but I think devoting another paragraph to bathing technique is a little much). Onto how it feels, well it leaves the skin pretty much clean, I don’t expect much less from it really, it doesn’t irritate and the skin feels all soft and glowing afterwards. Hmmmmmmmmmm, actually my skin doesn’t, it feels all hairy and a bit moist, but that just because I have the temperature on t
he shower cranked up a bit too high. But you get the idea. The major difference with this shower gel as opposed to your more mundane run of the mill types is its aroma. Since the plot behind the gel involves aromatherapy oils (as does the gel) it’s hardly surprising the gel has an aroma, its even less surprising that the aroma is that of Lime. Yes it does smell like Lime not in a washing up kind of way or in a cordial kind of way but in a Chocolate Lime kind of way. Is this a good thing?? Well if chocolate limes are a big part of your life then I suppose it is, personally I can take it or leave it. Still for those moments when nothing but the aroma of sweet shop will do, its perfect. A couple of things that ought to be mentioned, by way of a health warning, is that it does contain essential oils, and depending on the toughness of your skin it might be sensitive. I have the skin type of a rhino (they so rarely put that on bottles these days, usually sticking to the safe ones like greasy or dry) so it doesn’t affect me at all. Though I expect people with eczema might want to avoid this. The thing about OS products is they all contain essential oils and so it makes them a little different from the usual brands. Sometimes it’s a good thing, almost always when the product contains mint; obviously it’s bad for anyone with any kind of skin complaint and sometimes its just plain indifferent. It’s indifferent in the case of Lime shower gel. I’m kind of disappointed because the “mint and tea tree” and the “extra mint” varieties are really very good. They give you the extraordinary sensation of having your whole body scrubbed down with toothpaste, not entirely unpleasant. Lime just doesn’t have that same kind of belt, I waited for the tingle but none came. Maybe it’s down to my rhino skin. As a final analysis I’d say it’s not a bad product it just isn
