Advantages: Very attractive name and a gorgeous seablue colour.
Disadvantages: If you buy it for £1.97 it is more expensive than many.
Picture this ladies- you have decided to rough camp on a deserted beach on the Lofoten islands in Northern Norway. It is mid- summer and the light is just fading, though it is midnight, when out of the front of your tent you see a gorgeous man emerging from the sea in nothing much. He is covered in a layer of seaweed and his skin is glistening in the half light with crystals of rock salt. As he heads for your tent you wonder how long has he been in the water? I was thinking about this when hubby walked out of the shower with a bottle of Original Source Norwegian Sea Kelp and Rock Salt in his hand wrapped in a towel-well you can dream!
Actually this is a new product from the very popular Original Source Company which I love. A few years ago it is hard to believe they were only available online, and I was one of their first customers. Now they have become a household name. They have a superb website (one of the best) and you can find it at www.originalsource.co.uk. Here you can hitch a ride in a VW camper van and follow the trail to find all their lovely products. The birds are singing, it's a summer day, and you can't fail to appreciate their beautiful graphics and the wonderful layout of the site.
They work closely with the Vegan Society and with the Aromatherapy Council and make sure that everything is as kind to the environment as possible, so flying in ingredients unnecessarily is something they wouldn't consider.
I purchased this bottle from Boots for £1.95. I don't normally pay that much for Original Source, getting it cheaper in various offers, but I thought hubby would appreciate this version just for men, (being as he is of sea faring origin- an old Viking from The Isle of Man originally!)
The bottle looks attractive. Turquoise liquid- it actually resembles the sea you find in warmer climates- in fact it looks tropical! It has the caption- "puts back in what life takes out!" It also says "grooming for men isn't new" and tells us Alexander the Great was into it! Inspired by the oceans this is a male treat!
So what was the shower experience like for hubby? Well he used it both for washing and for hair cleansing too and he was missing for some time. After a long day at the office, and all those underground trains to contend with he always showers after work, as well as before, so he is no stranger to the bathroom.
He said he found it invigorating and refreshing, and that his skin felt clean and fresh. Although the liquid looks blue it is actually an optical illusion as the bottle has a turquoise tint to it, and the gel itself is only slightly blue. It smells really clean though, and no trace of a seaweed smell either. It claims to be a sports wash, so I guess they are looking for buyers to take it into the gym, and to use after exercise as it says it is hydrating, so could go hand in hand with Gatorade. Can't comment on that because hubby isn't the energetic sort. The smell lingered on his skin all evening though which was good, and it was great for that perk me up shower for the "I've had a hard day feeling." It was moisturising too, his skin was soft and not dry at all.
He said his hair felt clean, and it certainly did, but he did say that after a few days he needed to use a conventional shampoo and conditioner, as it was starting to feel a little stripped of natural oils. I think this is the case with many products which claim to have multiple uses, but it is useful to have them especially when travelling.
He was very impressed with it and says he would buy it again tomorrow if he needed some more. Certainly a great male smell and one to look out for. I love the name, but personally don't think it is ahead of the competition in any way, it's got a unique title, but I don't think the smell is anything more than you would get with any male shower gel to be perfectly honest.
The male collection also includes Original Source Eucalyptus and Lime Basil Oil Energising Hair & Body Wash, and Original Source Orange Oil and Ginger Invigorating Hair & Body Wash which complete the male trio.
Something different to try but I think I would wait for an offer first.
Summary: A great choice to try but I don't think the product is spectacular.
