Advantages: Wicked smell, quality bubbles, no animal ingredients
Disadvantages: Costs a bit more than other bubble baths (but worth it)
There's bubble bath and there's bubble bath - but this one is a 'bath foam'.
The packaging suggests an edgy, out of the ordinary, funkadelic product; it's not a regular type of bubble bath bottle - this looks more like a drink. Its blocked fonts suggest it is a seriously modern bubble bath.
The colour is a vibrant translucent purple that sets off the black ink of the font. To summarise, it looks good in a more modern bathroom setting.
However good it looks, theres's no point in it if it doesn't do what it says on the tin (foam). Foam it does, quality bubbles with some longevity; the sort you can form into whipped egg-white peaks.
If you love lavender, it smells great. Some people associate lavender with the dusty dressing tables of ancient ladies but this product is clearly trying to dispell that association with its modern, clean lines. I like lavender (as long as its not in some chemical-type air freshener) and this particular product is a clean, distinct aroma which certainly overpowers any tea tree smell that might be in there.
The essential oil lavender is seen as the relaxing one, you find it in baby products and sleep products because it is a tried and tested formula that works. This means that this product is aimed at those who are having an early night. The bottle says 'best before a good night in' suggesting that it might help you relax and sleep - also playing on the idea that it is a perishable food/drink product. Clever, isn't it?
Do I use it to help me sleep? No. I usually have a bath in the morning. It does not make me nod off over my toast - but then I have just completed all the required sleep patterns. I just like the smell!
The tea tree essential oil is also a very useful oil. I use neat tea tree to treat all sorts of sores and cuts; it is a natural antiseptic. Once my daughter had some long-standing strange spots behind her knees that would not go away. My brother (a doctor) suggested neat tea tree because of its anti bacterial anti viral properties. I did this and within a couple of days it had gone. I would think then that tea tree in the bath water certainly helps keep the odd scrath or newly vacated hair follicles (post wax) nice and clean.
I also like the fact that it is an animal-free bath foam; no animal bits in it and not tested by torturing animals with it. I suppose that's the bit that enables me to have a good night's sleep!
Summary: Worth the cash!

- 06/06/09 Good review. I was given a bottle of this for Christmas, but I won't use it. I like the colour though. I like the Lime shower gel in the Original Source range. |
