Advantages: essential oils, natural product

Disadvantages: bottle cannot be hung inthe shower, gel is too thick

I have always ever preferred to buy the same shower gel, mainly due to my skin being very sensitive and reacting to any changes in skin products! But when my usual shower gel had sold out I decided to buy Original Source Tea Tree and Lemon Shower Gel instead.

*Packaging*

The bottle was a very simple design with bold black lettering, making it look as natural as possible coinciding with the message of purity and all natural products that the manufacturers are trying to bring across. On actually reading what the product was about I came to know that it was 100 per cent environmentally friendly and was not tested on animals. By purchasing this product you are contributing to a good cause. The bottle does not actually have a hook to hang it up in the shower ( the picture that is provided shows an older design, the manufacturers have since changed the packaging for the lid to be twisted off). This can be a bit difficult in the shower as you have to find somewhere to put the bottle. The packaging is now more slim lined and has a smooth shape rather than the wide one it used to have before.

*Usage*

As soon as you begin to use the shower gel you are hit by the smell of lemons, loads of lemons! It is intense to begin with but as soon as your nose adjusts to the fragrance it should not be a problem. Lots of people like shower gels and skin products that have a zesty, tangy and citrusy fragrance this shower gel is exactly that.

It did take a while to lather up even though I used one of them scrunchy scrubers, sorry I cannot remember what they are called but you probably know what I am on about! On previous occassions with other shower gels I have found that they lather up quickly but with this shower gel it takes a while to. I had to use more of the gel to achieve the desired amount of lather.

The gel is very thick and is bright yellow in colour, it almost comes out of the bottle resembling lemon curd. The gel is not like other gels that are absorbed onto your sponge or loofah, if you are not careful the gel slips off and ends up in the plug hole! This is all due to overly thick consistency of it. The same problem arises if you use your hands to lather up, once you have squeezed the gel out, found a place to put the bottle and the lid...oops the gel has slipped off your hands!

The shower gel does rinse off well though and it does not leave an oily and greasy type of residue on your skin. As it contains tea tree, a natural antibacterial, it also helps to keep your skin germ free for ages after you have showered. The shower gel did not dry my skin out, as I said before my skin is way too sensitive and tends to become very dry, but I did not find this product to be particulary moisturising either.

*Conclusion*

When I tried this product first thing in the morning it gave me a refreshing feeling and it woke me up due to the zesty lemony fragrance. When used in the evening after a long day it seemed to relax me as well as freshen me up. Due to all the lemons this gel is very refreshing both for your senses and for your skin but I will not be giving up my usual shower gel for this product. It is a nice alternative though if you want to try something different. This shower gel did not work for me although the bathroom did smell great for ages after I had used the gel!

Original Source Tea Tree and Lemon Shower Gel is available in all supermarkets and good chemists, the price ranges from £1.69 to £2.50 for a 250ml bottle.

*Note: It does state on the packaging that as this product contains essential oils it may not be suitable for your skin*

Summary: Ok but wouldn't give up usual shower gel for it!

I love this one!

I am lucky in not having sensitive skin (and neither do muy children) so we go through all kinds of bath products happily, including all those lovely grown ups ones (how nice to have a baby smelling of something nice rather then Johnson and Johnson sickly baby wash!).
