Advantages: It's Original Source
Disadvantages: It's too strong for me
I love most of the Original Source products from shower gel to foaming face wash but this one is a real eye opener to say the least!
Tea Tree and Mint Shower Gel certainly packs a powerful punch! In fact it is advertised as the ultimate wake up call!
If you're feeling a bit lethargic when you get into the shower, with this one you certainly won't be feeling that way when you get out.
The 250ml bottle of Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel doesn't have a hook to hang up in the shower which I found a bit of a pain to be honest. What is does have, however, is an upside down container. It stands on the bathroom shelf with the opening at the bottom so that the gel is constantly running towards the opening. Of course this means that the last bit of shower gel gets used.
The gel itself is dark green and has a strong smell of peppermint with a hint of tea tree, which I suppose is what you'd expect given the name of the shower gel! LOL!
When I massaged the gel onto my body, although there weren't too many bubbles I did feel that it was rich and cleansing.
It is really sharp to the point of stinging a bit in the more sensitive areas (I won't go into details but some of the men have had problems with their cheeky bits!) but it certainly does wake you up.
Just for a bit of background information on the company I read the writing on the back of the bottle. It is so small that I had to use my magnifying glass to read it! It is worth a look though as it gives some interesting details of the history of Original Source.
Apparently the inspiration for the manufacture of the products was taken from the bush remedies of someone called Ellen Wakeman who was the daughter of missionaries living in New South Wales. She had run away from home to join the goldrush of 1857 and somehow ended up as a barber's assistant.
She soon began to learn of the healing powers of the plants native to the outback and subsequently became famous for her herbal cures.
The Original Source range of today still uses some of the ingredients discovered by Ellen Wakeman. The products all contain natural oils rather than synthetic fragrances and are not tested on animals.
This particular shower gel actually makes your skin tingle all over and, if I'm honest, is a bit too much of a good thing for me. The spearmint one is better for me as it still has a minty fragrance but is milder - I think it's more my style. If you want something to REALLY wake you up and you like peppermint then this is ideal for you.
The shower gels are about £2.00 or so each, depending on where you buy them, but it is always as well to keep your eye open for special offers like Advantage Points at Boots or two for the price of one and stock up while the going's good!
By the way the picture at the top of this review is NOT Tea Tree and Mint Shower Gel it is Moisturising Body Wash.
Summary: A sharp, strong, stinging shower gel
