Advantages: invigorating smell, uses natural oils

Disadvantages: none

As many of you will probably know Original Source have been giving away free bottles of their shower gels from their website. In the past I?ve tried an Original Source shampoo which I wasn?t keen on, but realising that I?d never actually tried their shower gels I thought I?d go to the website and order a free bottle. After all if I didn?t like it at least I wasn?t paying for it!

When my 50ml bottle arrived, the first thing I did was to smell it. If you like strongly fragranced shower gels then you certainly won?t be disappointed by this one as it is very strong. Both the tea tree and mint can be smelt and produced a refreshing fragrance.

The mini bottle would be ideal for taking on holiday as it is basically a mini version of the regular sized shower gel. The only difference is that it doesn?t have one of those little plastic squeezy valve things so instead you just pour it into your hand.

The packaging is quite bold ?Original Mint Source Shower? written in bold black capitals and ?Tea tree & Mint? in a red panel. Underneath this it says ?For the most motivating and reviving shower experience you?ve ever had?. After reading that bold claim I was quite excited about using it.

When I used it in the shower the smell seemed even stronger than before and was quite invigorating. Personally I?m not actually keen on the fragrance as a shower gel and can?t get around thinking that it?s more of a ?manly? smell, I have no idea why this is but I suppose fragrance is down to personal preference and I?m sure there are many women who like this particular scent.

The shower gel lathers well, not in the way that something like Dove does but it is perfectly adequate and you don?t have to use copious amounts of the stuff before you see a good lather. On the skin it tingles sl
ightly in a way that made me think my skin was really clean and it was reviving as they had promised. Unfortunately it isn?t a moisturising wash so I had to use moisturiser afterwards, but in all fairness it doesn?t advertise itself to be moisturising and I think the intention is to leave a really clean feeling on the skin rather than softness so I wasn?t bothered by that aspect of it.

Another thing I liked about the product was that Original Source use natural oils rather than synthetic fragrances, doesn?t test on animals and is vegan friendly, which are all bonuses.

Overall I was impressed by this shower gel especially as it was free but it wouldn?t be my personal choice of fragrance if I was buying one. I will have a look at the Original Source shower gels next time I need to buy some, or rather a smell, so I can see which fragrance I like the best. I should imagine that this particular one would be a rather effective relief for sunburn though!

I think the full size bottles of this product cost about £2.49 but the cost will vary from place to place and I?m sure you will be able to find it cheaper at some places.

Thanks for reading!

I've got addicted to this again recently but I really love the smell. Have you tried the Spearmint one - that's even better!

I ordered a sample of this a couple of weeks ago. It's great and tingly indeed, especially in the .... sensitive areas of one's body ;o) Oh, the miniature bottle looks cute too.
