Advantages: Cheap, smells good.
Disadvantages: Way too runny- it shoots out of the tube.
Showers don't seem to have the same relaxation appeal as baths; often people don't think that it is possible to relax in the shower and so don't really invest in 'smellies' for the shower. However, this shower gel is definitely luxurious and makes showering into something that is easily as nice as a bath.
I picked this shower gel up in May in Tesco for 99p (it was on offer) and wasn't sure what to expect as I had never tried any of the Original Source products beforehand. It is definitely something I am glad I tried though!
Smell: The first thing you can smell is the cocoa. It is rich and sweet, and while it might not appeal to those who dislike chocolate (although if you hated the smell then why would you buy a chocolate based product?), it definitely appeals to me. When it is in the bottle, it is boredline sickly/sweet but the smell isn't as concentrated when you actually use it. What is also nice about the smell is that it lingers on your body after use; the cocoa smell doesn't immediately go away after being washed off like what happens to so many other shower gels.
Texture: My first impression of this wasn't so positive. While it is creamy and does create quite a nice foam, it's not really as impressive as other products I've tried. I felt that the gel was very runny and often some is wasted because of how fast it comes out of the tube. However, it does make your skin feel smooth so this is only a minor complaint.
Result: I really like this product. While I'm still not a huge fan of showers, this definitely makes the experience more enjoyable. I feel clean and relaxed because of this gel, and frankly its worth it for the smell that lingers on your body afterwards. I should note that I do have dry/sensitive skin so some bathing products often cause my skin to be irritated but this has caused no problems.
I'm not sure if this product is still widely available now (it says it is part of the Winter 08 collection) but other Original Products retail around £1.94. However, as stated I paid under £1.00 for my bottle, because it is only a seasonal product and large supermarkets don't want Christmas products on the shelves when the sun is shining :) Please note that you get 250ml of the gel, and for how I paid for it, I consider this to be a bargin.
Another note is that this is a Vegan product so was not tested on animals/does not contain any animal produce :) This is a delicious smelling, and highly affordable, ethical shower gel.
Summary: Very affordable and adds luxury to shower times.

- 02/07/09 Yeah, it does lean more toward the sickly side but I can cope with that in small doses :) Thanks for positive comments! |
