Advantages: Lovely smell, my skin felt nice after use, reasonable price

Disadvantages: No lather

One of the newer additions to the Original Source range is the pouches of shower gel or in this case shower sorbet! There are three different ones of which I have tried two - I don't like the sound of the Pomegranate and Fig one.

The one that I am talking about is the Original Source Watermint and Lemongrass Nourishing Shower Sorbet and that's an awfully long name for a bit of shower gel!

The Packaging

This sorbet comes in a clear plastic container which looks like a big sachet with a piece of extra plastic inserted into the base and with the corner cut off. It holds 250ml of Shower Sorbet and the weight of the contents together with the design of the base means that it will stand up on its own with no problems. Also being plastic it can be recycled.

If you can't make any sense of my description just look at the picture of the product at the top of the review!

Where the corner has been cut off there is a dispenser which is in the form of a little plastic tube. When I first came to use it I had a few failed attempts at getting the gel, sorry, sorbet, out of the pouch - I think I must have been having a senior moment! I tried twisting the tube to no avail and then realised that I had to pull the tube as there is an inner and outer one something like the ones you get on bottles of water. Then you just give the container a squeeze and the Shower Sorbet comes out.

This makes for an attractive and unusual design especially as you can see the turquoise liquid inside the container but the down side is that it does make it a bit difficult to use in the shower, especially if you don't have a shelf to stand it on.

The Smell

I was very impressed with the smell of this product. It is a light, fresh, citrus sort of smell with a hint of spearmint and it perfumes the air in the bathroom. I could also smell it on my skin for some time afterwards too.

The Use

As I have already mentioned the design of the packaging makes it a bit difficult to use in the shower, although I do have a little shelf to stand it on which does make it easier than it would otherwise have been.

I was disappointed to find that there were few bubbles and no real lather at all. If it doesn't lather up here in our really soft water - we live on the edge of Snowdonia - it isn't going to lather anywhere!

However I did feel clean after using it and my skin felt lovely and soft.

The Claims

On the front of the packaging the wording states:

'Apply liberally to tired limbs in a warm shower, breathe deeply and prepare to take on the world. Best before it all gets too much. Please do not drink.'

I think it's a good idea to put the drink warning on the carton as it does look a bit like a carton of juice!

On the back of the packaging the wording states:

'Rejuvenate your senses with watermint, one of nature's stimulants combined with the uplifting fragrance of lemongrass.'

I certainly found the fragrance refreshing and stimulating but then I do like watermint and lemongrass products.

The Rest

It does have the usual warnings to keep away from the eyes and also as I have already said it is more important t than usual to keep this one away from children as they may think that it is juice.

None of the Original Source products are tested on animals.

There is an address on the back but even with my glasses on and using a strong magnifying glass I can't read it!

To find the current price (mine was a gift so I didn't buy it) I have looked on the Boots website and it is £1.94 at normal price but it currently only £1.

It also comes in Mango and Macadamia and Pomegranate and Fig. I have also tried the Mango and Macadamia and found this to be pretty much the same in the sense that the smell is lovely but there is very litte in the way of lather.

It is difficult to say whether I will try this again as the smell is gorgeous and it did make my skin feel nice but I do like bubbles in my shower!

Summary: I would rather have something that bubbles!

I'm always unsure about these pouches. They seem a bit of a waste. Great review.
