Advantages: wakes you up in the morning with a buzz!!!
Disadvantages: at £1.97 each are a little pricey but check out TESCO and other supermarkets for offers
Now lets just get one thing clear before I start. I am not much of a man for showers.
Now, that doesn't mean I do not wash; it simply means that for hygiene, I simply prefer to have a bath. That doesn't mean though that I do not like shower gel. Gel, I find, is a much more pleasant alternative to soap. But no, I am a bath man- if only because it is one of the few times I can get half an hour peace and because I can lay back, soak and read a book- something that although I have tried in the shower, only results in soggy pages.
Now, normally when it comes to shower gels, LYNX is my preferred gel of choice; not those ghastly, over-powering ones like AFRICA or TEMPEST but the milder versions like SNAKEPEEL, one of their latest which is rough on the skin and contains an exfoliant or something similar, or a blue one whose name I forget which contains some kind of moisturising element. However, on a recent trip to TESCO, I discovered this new range of ORIGINAL SOURCE priced at 97p each rather than their normal £1.97!!!! So good a deal was this that I bought one of each variety and even got some more again this week on a return visit when they were reduced again!!!!
These newest versions of a highly successful and lucrative product, come in three varieties; Macadamia and Mango, fig and pomegranate and finally watermint and lemongrass. Each of them has their own unique branding- labelled as smoothie, juice and sorbet respectively- and come in a soft, squeezy tube much like the products they are named after. On each container is a warning- PLEASE DO NOT DRINK- and although this seems a little unnessecary (if you are stupid enough to drink any of these after opening the package and still not realising what these are then you probably deserve to get ill) there is no doubt that, in this modern sue-everybody era, that such warnings are most defenitely essential if a company wishes to avoid a law-suit!! Mind, who calls a shower gel a smoothie anyway?
Obviously ORIGINAL SOURCE do...and as a marketing strategy, I must say it's probably a winner which sets them aside from their competitors....
So, enough of the preamble already Sparky I hear you cry- what are the blasted products actually like?
Well, actually they're rather nice! The previous reviewer has already mentioned that there is a distinct lack of lather but, speaking solely for myself here and not wishing to contradict a fellow reviewer, I can't say I've really noticed, the way I use these gels. Presumably if you're using them actually in a shower, this is a factor that becomes more noticeable but as I use them as an alternative to soap in my bath, then the lack of lather really hasn't registered on my radar. My favourite is defenitely the WATERMINT AND LEMONGRASS SORBET but the FIG AND POMEGRANATE JUICE is almost as good. Personally I find these gels to be refreshing and uplifting and always leave me feeling clean and more awake in the mornings after using them. Even the MACADAMIA version which is my least favourite of the three is still a nice, relaxing product to use and I have no qualms about using any of these products again despite the fact that normally I am a right fussy bugger!!
My only slight greivance is the price as I shop on a budget, am tight and don't like paying too much for stuff but whilst TESCO continue to put these on offer, I will continue to keep buying them!!
If you want more information on any of their products then heres the website link; http://www.originalsource.co.uk/know_more/ where you can find all sorts of sciencey stuff to do with these and all their range.
Just remember- they're NOT for drinking...it says so right there on the packet!!!!
Summary: a nice, original product that really does stand out from the crowd!!
