Advantages: bigger breasts
Disadvantages: look like a jelly on legs
It has occurred to me recently about the issue that has taken me back from what I thought of young girls. I have got a younger sister who is in her teenage years and it amazed me when I saw a few weeks ago about a 15 year old girl who decided that ‘Boobs is what they want’ quoting her exact words that she thought she needed bigger breasts. I asked my sister if she would consider having implants to enhance her breast size. She said it was a silly idea because it wouldn’t feel natural to her. This was about a girl called Jenna Franklin who, when she was having her sixteenth birthday and opening her presents, that her mother was prepared to give her the best present that she could ever have and pay for her to have silicon implants because she needed bigger breasts. Naturally, I had heard of celebrities who had had implants so they could show off their bust size and draw attention to themselves. Take for example the model Jordan who had already had two previous implants and had recently had a third because she said that ‘she was in the mood for bigger breasts’. I disagree that she should have had them in the first place as it just does not seem natural to me to change your bodies appearance simply so that you can be noticed by people more often than before. When I read in the paper about the case of this girl having the implants at the age of fifteen, I was stunned as well as shocked that she said, when asked, why she wanted them. Her response to this question was that ‘boys do not notice you unless you have a big breast size because boobs is what they want’. If I was put in the situation of whether I had to choose a girl that had a great personality or huge breasts after having silicon implants, it would be the personality that would win. If someone needed to change his or her body for a reason, it should be done medically in my opinion. For example, a person who has been involved in a fire or a car crash, should
be allowed to be given treatment that could cover up any scars or painful memory’s that it might bring up. The girls who want to have these implants done have been refused by all surgeons because they are felt to be too young, not mature enough, and do not actually realise that they have not finished puberty yet and will not if their breasts will grow naturally within the following few months. Looking at the facts on implants it is found that after ten years of having been in the body that they rupture. This will happen in 70% of the cases. More that eight thousand people a year want the implants to take place. Events now are taking a new turn. Many concerned parents who are worried that the implant craze will effect their children, have decided to take it to the courts in Europe to get a minimal age limit on when people are allowed to have the implants. So far it is only at the beginning of an interesting story that will be argued against many peoples cases for along time to come. The phrase ‘try before you buy’ in this case should not be used as it may lead to more and more younger teenagers wanting implants because they think that with bigger breasts, they will be more attractive to the opposite sex. This is simply not true. The cost of the implants also is a great strain under many cases that use the NHS who spend billions on health care. Surely there must be a more deserving cause that the money could go to such as cancer who so many people die of each year.
