Advantages: Instant moisture, light scent, lasts a long time.
Disadvantages: A little pricy, so many Palmers products to choose from!
I have always used the Palmers body care range as their creams work wonders at moisturising my skin. I bought this Olive butter formula about 9 months ago along with the balm and I have to say that it is one of the best creams I have ever used. After 9 months of weekly use I still have plenty to go around and I still rate the butter just as much as I rated the balm when I reviewed it way back then!
** What is Palmers Olive Butter Formula ? **
This is a product from Palmers which is aimed at moistening the skin. It comes in a cream which is a fragrant oily substance made from the resin of various trees. The Palmers olive butter contains Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Vitamin E and Shea Butter. All known for their skin smoothing qualities. Palmers state that this rich creamy butter instantly soothes and softens rough, dry skin. Which seems pretty believable, they also state that it helps keep your skin looking youthful... well, we shall see about that!
** What is it like to use?**
The butter itself is actually more of a thick cream and is an odd light green colour that becomes clear as you massage it in. I found that the butter spread exceptionally well and you only need a small amount at a time. It feels quite greasy to begin with but it absorbs into the skin in mega quick time which I was extremely impressed with. I am a very impatient person and I hate having to wait for anything to dry, so this is perfect for me!
As soon as I have rubbed the butter in my skin felt instantly fresh and healthy. It does add a bit of shine to the skin, not a greasy shine but a healthy glow. It completed succeeded in instantly moisturising my skin and it works every single time.
I also found this to be great at firming the skin; I think because it deeply nourishes and adds the extra moisture and vitamin E the skin revives itself and really plumps up the skin. I imagine this is where it helps give a youthful dewy appearance to slightly older skin.
The smell of the balm is really hard to describe, it is a very light fragrance which is quite refreshing and I really like it. A thin line between lemons and vanilla. I know that sounds strange but pop in and smell it yourself and you will know what I mean. It lingers in the skin for 10 minutes or so and then slowly fades. Perfect for refreshing yourself in the afternoon. Lovely stuff!
** Virgin Olive Oil - The main ingredient and the main selling point**
The main ingredient of the Olive Butter is Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This has been used for hundreds of years as a skin moisturiser as well as a host of other things (like frying eggs and lighting lamps!) The olive oil is full of antioxidants which help protect and renew the skin. This makes it a great after sun for when you've fried yourself a little too long or if you have any scratches or scrapes. It is also great for really dry areas such as your nose after a rotten cold. If your nose goes a bit dry because of all the tissue being rubbing at your tender skin this is perfect for helping the area soften and heal. I also use it to sooth my eyebrows after they have just been waxed!
Off topic ever so slightly... Jeanne Calment, holds the record for the longest confirmed lifespan, (122 years of age!) Apparently she said her youthful appearance was down to olive oil, which she poured on all her food and rubbed into her skin! Well, we know where Palmers got the idea from then!
**Price and packaging**
The packaging is the original 'palmers' white plastic bottle with flip lid. It has a bright green logo on the front and the bright orange palmer name on top of that. It is with the rest of the Palmers range and most high street health and beauty stores sell the Palmers range now. You can also grab a bargain and buy it on many of the health and beauty websites floating around. I paid around £3 for my large 250ml but I know there is always a bargain to be had. I think it is definitely value for money.
**Conclusion**
This is fantastic add giving your skin some instant moisture and with its light fragrance is brilliant and making you feel refreshed. It sinks in quickly and doesn't leave any residue on the skin. I recommend this 100% either for daily use or just a body boost on a weekly basis. Excellent stuff!
Summary: A Body butter that is creamy enough to moisturise everywhere!
