I bought this lotion from Boots when i was pregnant as i desperately wanted to avoid stretchmarks and soothe my intensely itchy belly. It contains the softening ingredients Vitamin E and Shea butter, and the firming ingredients Elastin and Collagen to firm and tone the skin. The pump action makes it easy to use and apply, i had it on my bedside table and liked to squirt some out whilst lying in bed. Looking back i think i went a bit OCD using this product, i used it several times a day along with Bio Oil. But it must have worked somehow because i have no stretchmarks to speak of. Even though i was a bit too liberal when using this the 250ml bottle lasted for the last 4 months of my pregnancy. Though a slightly annoying thing is that when there is not much product left the pump can't reach the bottom to dispense it. I had to unscrew the lid and use the actual pump tube to scrape it out and onto my hand. I don't like anything to go to waste! An unpleasant side effect of using this lotion is that after rubbing it in for a while little bits of dead skin start to accumilate! Not pretty and my boyfriend would not rub it into my belly for me because of this! This made me a very unhappy pregnant bunny and i do not know why it did this as other lotions didn't. The cocoa butter smell was quite sickly and overpowering, i am not sure if this was because my nose was super sensitive owing to being pregnant but some days it actually made me want to gag. I absolutely love any chocolate based products or smells usually but i just found this too strong. I did not repurchase this after i ran out but i would probably buy again if and when baby number 2 is on its way. Yes the smell was unpleasant for me but i do think this helped my belly stay firm and stretch mark free, it also made my bump lovely and soft. I am giving this 3 Dooyoo stars owing to the fact that it smells horrible and makes my skin shed something chronic! If it wasn't for this it would be getting 5 stars. Currently this lotion is available to buy from Boots for £2.42.
I really like the Palmers Cocoa Butter protects and I have liked pretty much all of the ones that I have tried. I am going on holidays in the next few weeks and although I realise I am clutching at straws, I thought I would give the Cocoa Butter Formula Firming Butter a try in a bid to tone up my wobbly bits with minimum effort. What does the product do? The product contains ingredients which promise to restore your body to its former glory and firmness. The formula claims that it will tighten the skin again after weight loss or pregnancy, reducing the appearance of stretch marks. It contains both Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter to nourish and hydrate the skin, allowing it to hold onto its elasticity. Also included is collagen and elastin to tone and firm up the skin, improving its texture. Ginseng and Vitamin E is also in the mixture to nourish and rejuvenate the skin. The special ingredient of Co Enzyme Q10 stimulates cell renewal which tones and smooth the skin. How do you use the product? The product is to be massaged onto the skin twice a day. You should particularly concentrate on those areas with stretch marks or those that you wish to tone up such your thighs, arms or stomach. Packaging and Price The product comes in the standard Palmers white plastic bottle. It has some additional information about the product on both the back and the front of the bottle. It has a pump dispenser which you push down on in order to release the product. The butter will cost you around £5 for 315ml of the product and it can be bought from stores such as Boots or Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a variety of online websites. Application and Performance The product doesn't have the usual delicious scent that comes with the Palmer Cocoa butter products. It doesn't have the gorgeous warm chocolate aroma that I have come to love and instead smells a little dry and not very nice. The product is also more white in colour rather than the pale creamy brown of the usual product. When you apply it to the skin, it instantly feels more hydrating and relieves my skin of any feeling of tightness or dryness so it works just as well as the normal product does. It removes signs of dullness from my skin, leaving it looking brighter and in a better condition. It hasn't caused me to experience any discomfort or irritations and it has left my skin feeling silky soft as expected. As for the toning, I can't be sure. I still wobble but then it wasn't going to fix that! I think my skin looks a little tighter after using it twice daily for three weeks but then I'm really, really looking hard for it. It could have been the daily massaging action that caused this. I haven't got any stretch marks so can't comment on its effect in this area. Conclusion All in all, my skin looks healthier and in a better condition. It also feels really soft and smooth. The product doesn't smell as nice as my original butter and although it has made my skin look good, I can't tell if it's toned or not. I do like this one but prefer the original so I'll probably go back to what I know.
~~My experience~~ After having my daughter I wanted a product that firm, toned and soothed stressed skin. I didnt know what to expect when buying this as I normally go on recommendations especially when this product was quite highly priced at £4.85 in Boots. I read the back and applied the butter, the smell is lovely and my skin felt moisturised immediately. I have used this product a long time and I haven't really noticed any toning happening but it is great at fading stretch marks and leaving my skin really soft. I am my own worst critic so maybe there has been a little bit of toning as i have been getting compliments on how nice my skin looks. The 400ml bottle lasted me afew months (I only use it on thighs, tummy and bust as apposed to my whole body) which is good value for money and it can only be used for 12months before its out of date so I didnt have to throw any unused butter away. ~~The Product~~ The butter is in a white container with a push down opening. There is an orange palmers logo on the front along with what the product contains, made with shea butter, collagen, elastin and vitamin E. Also it says it tightens skin and is for use after pregnancy and weight loss. Contains Co enzyme Q10 which is an antioxidant that helps smooth and revitalize the skin. The unique combination of cocoa butter, collagen, elastin and shea butter helps improve elasticity and texture. In addition ginseng and vitamin e help soften and relieve stressed skin. You can purchase this product from online or in body care, boots and other skin care shops. It is £1.54 per 100ml and £4.85 in total for the 400ml bottle. Directions: Massage all over the body twice daily - especially on thighs, legs, stomach and bust. Helps smooth and improve the appearance of stretch marks too. ~~Final Word~~ A brilliant product it smells lovely and goes a long way. Although I havent seen much firming which the product is meant to be for, I would still recommend it as it really has helped my skin since being pregnant and all the stretching it went through.
I was bought this by a friend when I was pregnant to help with stretchmarks and started using it straight away. I think most people think of Palmers Cocoa Butter as helping stretchmarks so I was quite optimistic about it working. I used it every day but did not notice much difference to my skin. It hasn't helped with my stretchmarks at all so don't think it is worth the price you pay for it as to me it seems like an ordinary body lotion. Another disappointing thing about it is that it doesn't really smell of anything apart from chemicals. I persisted with using the whole bottle during and after my pregnancy in the hope that it would help to minimise my stretchmarks but it hasn't. When you apply the lotion it feels quite sticky and it didn't absorb into my skin quickly so I had to wait for it to dry before getting dressed. It is supposed to be a skin firming lotion but my skin did not feel any different after using it. I would not buy this product as it is quite expensive and does not work.
I started using palmers cocoa butter at the end of 2005 after giving birth . I needed something good value yet effective and since effect can only be judged once an item is bought, I opted to go for the cheaper option for me - palmers cocoa butter. This particular lotion contained Vitamin E and collagen too (both known to restore skin) and so,the product did a good job of tempting me. The lotion had quite a thick consistency for a lotion but smelled very sweet ( just like cocoa butter normally does). It absorbed fairly quickly into the skin leaving behind a little bit of the cocoa butter smell. I applied the product religiously everyday.By the end of two months I started to notice a very slight difference in my stretch marks. This gave me hope to carry on.I used the lotion for a further nine months and noticed gradual improvements on a monthly basis. I still use the product once a week to keep my skin soft and firm.Four years down the line and my stretch marks are almost invisible. It isn't a miracle cream, you have to be patient, but considering the price you pay for it and that it WILL work, given time, I would say its a handy product especially during pregnancy, weight loss and weight gain.
I first bought this lotion when I was looking for a cream to moisturise my skin as well as get rid of stretch marks (I just had a baby). Palmers Skin Firming lotion is smooth and not too dense. As such it glides on easily when applied. Unlike some cocoa butters in the market, Palmers lotion doesn't feel or smell heavy. It has a very light pleasing fragrance which disappears after a few hours. I find this excellent especially if you wear perfume - this lotion won't interfere with it as it's so subtle. The lotion comes in a flattish bottle (space saving) with push pump dispenser (very useful for avoiding messy marks all over the bottle!). The lotion itself whilst is not dense, is not watery either. It feels substantial, smooth and most importantly is absorbed easily and quickly (almost immediately) onto the skin. Excellent value for money and the perfect choice if you like me, require pretty substantial moisturising but do not want to use oil based solutions.
This lotion disapointed me, as it is Palmers so i thought that it would be good so i gave it a try. I used it after my bath it took a long time to cream in and it had no fragrance im not going to complain about that because it said that on the bottle. I've been using it for a little while and i havent noticed any difference in my skin, maybe more muscles in my arm because it was tough to cream it in. i didnt like it!
I first decided to try this product because, one i saw it in a magazine and it said It was ment to firm tone and minimise marks on the skin and also i like to try different products to try and fing the best. This was definatly one of the best The first thing i noticed was it was a lot cheeper than the other lotions which promised to tone your body.... this could be a good or bad sign... depending how you look at things. The coca butter formula comes in two forms.. one is in a curvy bottle.. and the other is in a tub. there is a slight difference. They are the same product but in different consistancys. The one in the bottle flows more and is easier to rub in. The one in the tub is quite solid and takes a while longer to rub in. They do exactly the same thing but i think they did this because people prefer different consistancies. Another thing that hits you when you first open the lid is a lovely smell. its so good it smells good enough to eat. (but don't actually try it its not that nice) It rubs in quite easily and after a few minutes my skin already starts to feel smoother. and its true what it says it does tone you up for 3.29 a bottle... which is a miricle. The only disadvantage is if you leave the top off the product it goes all hard and you can't use it... but to be honest that was my fault for leaving the lid off
Firms and tones as it moisturises / Softens and improves skin elasticity / Contains cocoa butter, collagen, elastin, ginseng and Vitamin E /
