Advantages: The smell, the texture and the consistency
Disadvantages: None
I've been using this moisturiser for about 6 months now, and it's one of the best I've found - a classic!
I was first introduced to it one day at work, when a wonderful, chocolate orangey smell came wafting over the partition between my colleague and my desk. I asked her if she was eating a chocolate orange, surprised as I knew she was on a diet at the time (as was I!). She was indeed eating an orange, but the chocolate smell came from her new hand cream - Palmers.
For the next few days, the smell of chocolate would periodically fill up our office, until I demanded to test out the cream that was the source of this delicious smell! Well I must say, I was very impressed with the product in general and not just its aroma. The cream has a smooth texture and an off-white colour, slightly yellowish. It is great at moisturising, whilst being easily absorbed so your hands are not greasy.
I immediately went out and bought two bottles of Palmers - one for the office as a hand cream and one for home to use as a body moisturiser. The one on my desk is still going, and I use it several times a day to keep my hands smooth. I've replaced the one at home a number of times - I find that it lasts about 1-2 months, carrying out all over body moisturising once a day.
The smell is lovely, but not overpowering. I also find that it doesn't linger too long, so it doesn't compete with any other fragrances you may be wearing.
From what I understand, the product is supposed to reduce stretchmarks. I must say that I haven't noticed any difference despite 6 months of using it. I believe there is another product in the same range designed specifically for this purpose, but more expensive, so that may work better. However, I use this product purely as a moisturiser, so I'm happy with the results. I would have been very surprised if a product at this price range worked effectively on stretch marks.
The packaging is a 'classic'. This may be why I have passed it over in the past; I perhaps considered this to be something that an older generation might use. I've not used the pump dispenser, the bottle I use has the cap at the bottom. This is great, as the cream comes out easily.
In terms of price, it is reasonably cheap - not rock bottom, but affordable at the rate I use it. Usually I can find it at £3-£4, although recently they were on offer at Boots so I stocked up.
All in all, I've been very pleased with the results of this product, and it's now a staple of my beauty routine. Worth trying it if you haven't already.
Summary: A great beauty essential.
