Advantages: Great creamy, thick texture. Good purchase price. Last along time, the smell of the product!

Disadvantages: As the bottle gets towards empty it is difficult to get the last bits of cream out

It was when I returned from a holiday and went to see a friend that I first discovered the wonderful world of Palmers Cocoa Butter. At the time I was experiencing horrible peeling skin and had a rapidly disappearing sun tan when my friend advised me that I needed to slap some moisturiser on and quick! I informed I had but she went and got me her regular moisturiser from her bathroom cupboard, this was the Palmers Cocoa Butter, since that day and I am talking way over 7 years I have been using the Cocoa Butter.

The Palmers brand was formed over 160 years ago in America and was one of the first skin care companies. The brand has gone from strength to strength and now has many products available on the market. Not only do Palmers offer the Cocoa Butter formula there is an extensive list of other items available such as;

~ Butter Bronze
~ Foot Magic Cream
~ Fragrance Free Lotion
~ Hand Cream
~ Scar Lotion
~ Therapy Oil
~ Leg Gloss

The Palmers Cocoa Butter formula that I am reviewing comes in a white plastic bottle which is 8.5oz in size. It is wide at the bottom and narrowing towards the top. It has a lid which flips open but also can be removed to get every last drop of the Butte out (I tend to stand the bottle upside down to get those last bits!)

The front of the bottle has the Palmers logo, the name of the product and states that the moisturiser is enriched with vitamin E. The back of the bottle gives you a little more information on what the product does for you skin and directions for use.

The products main job is to heel and soften rough or dry skin, smooth any marks and to also tone the skin at the same time, that's a big promise! I am lucky not to suffer from rough skin but so suffer form dry skin so I was interested to see what this product could do for me.

On application, you flip the lid open and squeeze the bottle (the same motion as if you were using toothpaste) the cream is quite thick in texture and what you notice is the smell... CHOCOLATE! I loved this fragrance but this may not be for everyone and you can buy the fragrance free product. You do not need a lot of the cream and it works into your skin really well without leaving any greasy residue.

Cocoa is a skin conditioning agent that coats the skin with a fine film. It stops water loss so leaves your skin feeling really soft. I have to admit my skin was the softest it had been for along time, this was after a couple of weeks of regular usage. It did leave my dry skin feeling really moisturised. My partner also asked me about the 'chocolate smell in the bathroom, when I told him about the Cocoa butter, he was soon giving it a go on his knees as they have very rough skin on them, he did notice some improvement and has probably used as much of this stuff as me!

The Cocoa butter lasts a long time, especially as I try to use it after every bath or shower. I have used other moisturisers in-between using the cocoa butter but I will always revert back to this.

The brought my last bottle of this from Bodycare for the price of £2.29. I have seen the product in the Supermarkers as well as high street stores such as Boots, Wilkinsons and Lloyds chemist. As I previosuly said, I have been using the product now for over 7 years and the price has always stayed around the £2.30 mark which is great in the current economic conditions.

My only criticism of the Cocoa Butter is that as you reach the end of the product you do have some difficulty in getting the cream out, which is why I have to stand it upside down on my unit! I would hate to waste any after all! But this really is the only fault I can find!

I really do recomend this to anyone who is looking for a great everyday moisturiser and if the smell puts you off then go for the fragrance free option. 5 Dooyoo Stars from me, well done Palmers!

Summary: Highly recomened, go get your chocolate scented moisturiser now!

I have actually tried this myself. Unfortunately I am allergic to the fragrance and the product so can't use it myself.
