Advantages: smells lovely
Disadvantages: doesn't last very long
My latest offering in the hand wash stakes were a great bargain we got from Asda where we got three bottle of Palmolive hand wash for £2. Usually they retail at £1.64 each so this was a bargain we couldn't resist.
My other half chose the aquarium version for our bathroom upstairs as it looked nice to the eye on the shelf, and we thought our toddler might appreciate something pretty to look at as we encourage her to use soap when washing her hands.
The hand wash is designed in a pump action bottle with the outer plastic being clear apart from the front where it changes into a fake aquarium of back water and fish. The little nemo fish is a great hit with all kids who have seen the film and it's also very bright and attracts children's attention to the bottle. My daughter thinks it's great to see the fish when it's time to wash our hands.
This bottle will sit quite happily in most bathroom decors, as it's neutral it'll fit in most places. The actual hand wash is a clear liquid with not a lot of fragrance compared to some other varieties. Palmolive market this as being a PH neutral hand wash so it won't cause you any irritation when using it.
To open the bottle for the first time, the lid needs to be twisted to open the seal and then you can push down the pump action lid to dispense the liquid. My toddler isn't quite strong enough to manage this herself yet, but it's not too difficult to do.
I do find you don't actually need to push the lid completely down to wash your hands; you get enough of the hand wash by just pressing down approximately half way. I think a whole dispense is too much for one hand wash application.
The hand wash lathers up quite well and feels soft on my hands when I'm washing. It also rinses off well which is a big bonus for when my daughter is using it. There's nothing worse than having to stay rinsing off for ages which is what I found with the Tesco own version hand wash I was using.
As mentioned there isn't a strong fragrance to the hand wash, but I do find a nice fresh fragrance is around when I use the wash.
After care, I find that my hands fell soft and clean and they also smell nice and fresh. It's almost like a fresh air smell which is quite difficult to describe, but nice to smell.
Our 300ml bottle lasts us a couple of weeks when it's in the main bathroom where everyone uses it on a very regular basis. I find when this is in the kitchen then it lasts a lot longer, so I guess depending on how many people you have in your family and where you put it depends on how long it will last. I don't mind going through this quickly however due to the price we paid for the product.
Overall I will definitely buy this again when on offer, purely for the fun factor that it gives my daughter. Anything that encourages her to wash her hands is fine with me.
Summary: a great fun hand wash
