~~*~~*~~ Palmolive Aroma Therapy Shower Gel Anti-Stress ~~*~~*~~
I lead a very stressful life, no really, I do. Whilst trying to set up my own business I'm working in the kennels from hell, attempting to sell my house which is now reduced by seventeen grand, trying to settle down with the lover and his dog and sorting out all the rubbish that comes with moving half a house and a puppy. I reiterate, very stressful.
Thus, whilst mooching round the aisles of possibly the smallest Tesco in the universe where they have one variety of each food stuff and it's 'take it or leave it', I thought I'd treat myself as it's become apparent that no other bugger will. Consequently, rather than buying a cream cake or pie as is the feminine way, I chose something to make me smell pretty - well it's worth a try as usually I smell of sweat and dog wee (not my aromatic preference but rather a hazard of the job).
Just because I was indulging myself, didn't mean I was going to be frivolous - I am my father's daughter after all and when we can save a penny on petrol we'll drive forty miles to get it (I know, before anybody leaves a comment, but we are Northerners). I chose Palmolive primarily because I've used it before and not died, but more importantly because it was buy one get one free on the 250ml versions. I got 'milk and honey' because it's very nice and this Anti-stress one as a freebie (£1.89 for two - bargain). Some may say I was drawn in by the beautiful purple colour but I'm not swayed by something so fickle.
Back in the day, when I was a poor student, I found lavender oil soothed my aching hungover bones and let me sleep soundly through exam stress and the pain of rugby inflicted injuries so I was fairly convinced that this would have a similar effect. The smell isn't as overpowering as the oil I'd previously used which is great because I hate to smell like a whore's boudoir as my mother refers to some smells (usually in a rather loud voice in the middle of Debehams whilst glaring at the offender). However, it did get rid of the smell of canine urine so it's a winner in that respect. I'm not a real girl so I've no idea what the hell Ylang ylang smells like anyway or Patchouli for that matter (is that some kind of Irish vegetable?) but the end result is more lavendery and very nice so I don't really care either.
I have fairly dry skin due to the fact that I'm always out in the fantastic British weather but this shower gel did moisturise me so it does pretty much what it says on the tin. The only downside is the fact that it doesn't have a shower hook - not really a big deal until you get near the end of the bottle and then it has that annoying bit left that you can't use and neither can you leave it upside down due to the oval shape. So, yes there is an issue of waste (I suppose you could siphon it out using a length of rubber hose, a bic biro and an elastic band but that would be sad) however, it's counteracted by the fantastic Tesco offer.
So, am I less stressed? Kind of - I honestly sleep better if I've showered with it before I retire of an evening but I don't think I'm any less stressed - the shower gel hasn't managed to sell my house, get me a better job or unpacked my boxes, but at least I can sleep.
Should you want to find out more for yourself because my review has just wittered on and told you nowt then go to www.colgate.co.uk/app/PalmoliveEU/Aromatherapy/UK/ Products/AntiStress.cvsp or if you're really keen you could always give them a bell on 0800 32132132 - I'm sure they'd be interested to hear from you.
Thanks for reading.
