Advantages: none
Disadvantages: doesn't exfoliate, hard to spread over skin, smell can be a little sickly/overpowering
I bought this shower scrub from Boots as it was on special offer at the time and I am trying to cut back drastically on the amount I spend on beauty products. This appealed to me, not just because of the price, but because I have used a couple of Palmolive shower gels recently which were both very good, so I was keen to try a few more Palmolive products.
This scrub is from the Pure Cashmere range, and I think just the mention of the word cashmere makes it sound luxurious and gives the impression of softness. This range also includes a selection of shower crème's and bath foams, but I believe this particular product has only recently been launched.
The scrub comes in a white tube which stands on a silver flip top lid. The packaging is pretty basic, and although it doesn't scream luxury, it doesn't look as obviously cheap as some of the other things in the Palmolive range.
When it came to using the scrub, the first thing I noticed was the colour. The scrub is white, but the front of the tube shows a yellow liquid with orange particles in it, so I was a little surprised. Although obviously the colour of the product is not in the least bit important, I do wonder what that picture on the front is all about!
The consistency of the scrub is very strange too. It's not watery, and I wouldn't say it's particularly thick either, it sits somewhere in the middle, however it is very difficult to spread across the skin evenly. Not only that but there doesn't feel to be a lot of grains within this scrub. Personally, having dry skin which often looks flaky (yuk!), I feel like I need something a little harsher to get my skin buffed and smoothed.
The smell of the product is quite nice, but I think it would be more suited to a fabric conditioner than a beauty product. It's quite a fresh smell, but although initially I thought it was quite subtle, in fact can smell quite overpowering once you've used a good dollop of it - and because of the lack of grains in this, I did need to use lots at once.
In terms of results, I found this to be very poor. As there are a limited number of grains, and the grains that are there are very very small, therefore I found that this barely made a difference to my dry skin unfortunately, which of course was very disappointing, as I really feel I wasted my money with this one.
Talking of money, this scrub cost me just 99p when on special offer from Boots, so that wasn't too bad, and I don't feel I've lost out too much. The full price, however is £3.42 and needless to say I don't think this is a good price - well I don't suppose anything would be a good price for something that doesn't work!
So in conclusion, this is not a product I would recommend, unless you're looking for a very very mild scrub. If you want something that will effectively exfoliate though, there are lots of other scrubs at similar prices that are much more effective, and I'd say this is one to avoid!
Summary: Avoid!
