Advantages: A good idea to encourage handwashing.

Disadvantages: A bit expensive.

As with most of my reviews, the products that I end up reviewing were purchased solely for use of my darling children, this product is no different!
The product I am reviewing was purchased as a novelty type of product to encourage my children to wash their hands.
This unfortunately is due to the fact that there seems to be an epidemic of sorts going around my daughters school, and according to the chemist whom I purchased the threadworm tablets from, around a few schools due to the fact she had sold out twice that week alone of the afore mentioned tablets! Anyway I digress.

This product was recommended by the chemist as a way of encouraging my children, and any others that may visit my house, to wash their hands after visiting the toilet, before eating....etc.

The product I will now review is "Palmolive splish splash splosh, berry cherry, instant foam hand wash"

The packaging is the first eye catcher, children wise. The bottle is in the shape of a penguin, with a very cute looking penguin painted on the front.
The penguin is wearing a pair of red goggles with a snorkle, seemingly to reiterate the "splish, splash, splosh" part of the name.
At the top is the pump, very simple in design and white in colour, it is chunky and flat at the top of the pump, perfect for little hands to work. It has a very smooth pump action and doesn't take much force to work, again with a child in mind I feel.

As you may have gathered from the title, the "instant foam" action is also a big plus for children. My kids were initially amazed at this fact!

The instructions for use are simple, as with all hand washes first moisten the hands with water, even though this is a pre foaming hand wash the water helps emulsify the foam enough to spread over the entire hand surface with a very small amount needed.
Once the hands have been moistened with water, one pump of hand wash is needed, the foam comes out nice and bubbly and doesn't dissolve straight away.
Another point worth mentioning is, that even though there is no grip marks on the top of the pump, the pump is non slip when used with wet hands!
You rub your hands together, rubbing the foam over the entire area of your hands, I also encourage my children to rub the hands In a circular motion incorporating the backs of the hands and if possible the thumbs and in between the fingers.
I am incredibly anal when it comes to hand washing, I am a sterilisation assistant by trade, handling instruments for use in operations, so have been actually trained in hand washing techniques. Of course it is quite hard to drum it into a child, but we are getting there!
Once the hands have been suitably washed you simply rinse in water and dry, again drying is very important as drying is the most important part of hand washing!

The hands are left feeling very clean, moisturised and in no way dry as some hand washes can do. The hands are also left smelling absolutely delicious, the hands ,as the name suggests are left smelling of cherries and blackcurrants, and the smell remains on the hands for a good hour afterwards.

The only warnings on the bottle is to make sure you avoid your eyes, although it would be wise to avoid ingestion also!
The hand wash has a 12 month shelf life, and the bottle contains 200ml, this doesn't last as long as the conventional liquid hand wash, but I am yet to decipher whether this due to the foam content or more likely due to the fact that my kids use it like it's going out of fashion! (Which may I add I don't mind!)

The cost was a bit of a bone of contention, when I first purchased it, the chemist had recommended it as a novelty item to encourage hand washing.
When buying it I realised it cost £2.59 a bottle which even for the reason it was bought was extortionate in my view, on a visit to my local Poundland........ Yes you guessed it I found the same hand washes for sale there, in two different designed bottles as well may I add, so I promptly bought a couple of bottles!

Would I recommend this product... yes! It does exactly as it should, it encourages hand washing and smells divine. It is sensitive and easy to use, ideal for the child user. The only thing that I would say is that if you can possibly get it from Poundland it really is a bargain, I,m not sure I would pay full price for it again.

These are available from Asda, Poundland and most stores that sell hand washing products.

Thanks for reading x

Summary: A nice self foaming handwash, perfect for kids!
