When I started doing competitions one of the first prizes I won was a Pears goody bag and that was 2 bars of Pears soap, a bottle of their handwash and a Pears branded hand towel. We never got round to using the handwash but I saw we needed to open a new bottle in the kitchen yesterday so pulled it out quick before my mum could open another one of the Avon Senses ones that she loves, but I wanted to try my prize out! I love the smell of this handwash because it's just like Pears soap, it's got the same clinical type of smell which smells like it's good for you but also is surprisingly nice once you get past it smelling a bit like a hospital! I'm not terribly loyal to any one hand wash brand and tend to buy any that I know suit my sensitive skin which happen to be on special offer at the time. Unfortunately last week there were only brands on offer in Sainsbury's that I know definitely don't suit me so for the first time in a while I was forced to pay full price for whichever bottle of hand wash I eventually opted for. I knew the cost issue was out of the window as soon as I saw the solitary bottle of Pears hand wash on the shelf, I've used this in the past and loved it but priced at £1.85 for a 250ml bottle it's rather more expensive than the other hand washes I tend to buy. I used to have a fascination with Pears Soap when I was younger, due to its transparent nature, amber colour, and pleasing smell - it was a world apart from the white and boring soap block that usually sat by the sink. Nowadays i'm not so easy to please, but Pears soap still has a nostalgia about it - as does anything made by Pears in fact. Therefore, when I saw that Pears made a hand wash, I was interested to see how effective it was as a product. Pears soap was first sold in 1789 from a factory located just off Oxford Street, and an interesting fact, which may be useful in pub-quizzes, is that Pears is the worlds oldest registered brand.
